I finally bought a Corvette!
Today I bought a Corvette, A 1996 CE LT4 with 70k. I bought it from the 2nd owner. It's all original except for the exhaust and intake. It has flow masters and sounds great. Also has the F45 ride suspension, which he told me is a rare find. AC is cold and everything works except the key fob key holder case is broken. Is there a proper way of putting the car in reverse? I grinded it a few times when I put it into reverse.

Congrats on your car.
The fact you mention grinding I'm assuming you have a manual transmission. Assuming the clutch itself if good, the next area I'd suspect would be either low fluid or air in the system.
Check your clutch master cylinder and make sure it's up to the proper level. Next would be to bleed the system of any residual air if that's applicable. Happened to have that issue with mine after a slave/master replacement and it ground going into 1st and reverse. Got the air out and all was fine.

my '95 6-speed can be a little tough to go into reverse as well, you will eventually get a "feel" if its legitimately in reverse or not...nothing more embarrassing than letting out on the clutch while trying to back out of a parking spot and hear that "noise"
I've always liked the CE...the silver with black interior works for me!!!
anyways i would highly suggest a short throw shift kit, will totally change the feel of the car...its quite a job though but if you're interested i have a video series on my youtube channel with a complete install.

The standard test for clutch disengagement is 1st to reverse with no grind and no appreciable effort.
It should slide between them easily.

Regarding the exhaust...if it's just an axle-back and not a full system I would suggest going to a custom muffler shop and having them install an X-pipe (they will have to fabricate them but its really not all that big of a job..they have done it for both my C4's and only charge me $150 parts and labor). The X-pipe made a huge difference in reducing drone as well...

Change the clutch fluid first. ZF may be full of heavy weight engine oil, so drain and refill with lighter syncro trans oil. I use Valvoline MTF. these 2 service items will help with all shifting . when you shift into reverse give the lever a firm shove to the right. you have by far the best taste in C4's ! Mine when cold can give me some grief if revs are low going into 2nd. I think it has the 1st-4th block off done and it can freak it out sometimes. Reverse has not been an issue so try new oil 1st....PS I think they want to see some pics.
