The pros and cons of new tires....
The 06 we just bought needed new tires and that was definitely part of the negotiation.
Well nothing like a new pair of shoes as they say, replacing the 9 year old Michelin's.
That is until you see the tech working on your car walking towards you. Hmmm, he's not coming to make small talk. Turns out one of the front wheels is bent. They added allot of weight and said it might vibrate, surprisingly it doesn't.
Time to replacement wheel. Funny, usually this would typically be an opportunity for new rims, but I really like the OE's!

buy real Speedline rims for $400 on your local CL (there are 3 sets right now in MN anyways so i don't think they would be uncommon in any market).
and btw...i recently bought an '06 too and I'm loving it. i needed new rubber and went with Continentals at around $1200 a set (which is the same price as popular nitto's and the Continentals are an obvious upgrade in ride comfort)
i wont ever buy from OEWheels again...they sent me a damaged rim (that they swapped, but cost me time) and then the rims required a lot of weights. they have the cheapest rims for a reason...sadly, most wheels being sold from ebay vendors in Florida are all OEWheels. My experience may be the exception and they did take care of me but in regards to "first impressions" i wasn't impressed at all...i had both a damaged wheel and an embarrassing amount of weights on my wheels (on my C4).
I'm actually looking at wheels for my C6 as well and I'm not giving the OE website much of my time, especially since they dont have 11" C6 wheels or a Z06 repo in 79mm offset...its crazy i tell you, crazy
i will add some photos of what the Continental Extreme Contact Sport wheels look like on a C6...i will also include a photo of the same rubber on one of my C4's so give you an idea of the tread. they are also NON-directional so you can rotate wheels left-to-right for possibly longer life.

What is a 'lot of weight'?? If the problem is solved by the weight and there is no vibration, why bother with a new rim? The tire won't wear out faster if everything is balanced out.

When it was on the Hunter spinning you could see the bend in the wheel. One of those things I would just feel better with it replaced.

Look around, should be able to buy a whole set in the $500 range if you can't buy a single. You could probably sell the other 3 and recoup most or all of your $500. Buy GM original wheels, aftermarket wheels might SEEM the same as original, but they are not.

You can probably find the original equipment wheel on eBay at a reasonable price.

I would get new wheels. It’ll give the car a whole new look and feel. Just replaced the factory wheels on my GS and it looks more modern now. Look at “house of wheels” Bob has a great selection of factory and reproduction wheels. I bought from him and couldn’t be happier
