Default 1985 won't idle with MAF sensor unplugged.

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 1985 base model with no modifications and ran into a problem. The SES light was on and the code were 32, 42, and 43. I looked and the EGR valve itself worked just fine but a couple of the vacuum lines were damaged. I replaced them, cleaned the throttle body, put new gaskets on the intake manifold, and put a new distributor cap and rotor on. Afterwords, I went to restart the car it will start but immediately dies. I go to pull up codes, and all I get is 12 over and over again. Any help would be greatly appreciated

34 maf voltage low.

42 and 43 are fuel injection/spark circuits I would say go over what you did and check the wires to the distributor and other connectors.
Egr is fine
Good Luck

Thanks for the input. Looked underneath the distributor, wires going into it were chewed up. Replacing those on tuesday. Will update as repairs go along.

I fixed the wire harness going into the distributor. No luck. Car still won't idle. SES codes are 12 repeating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I have been writing the wrong thing, if the maf voltage is low check the wiring to the maf. Sounds like a broken wire or cracked wire mabey.

When you renewed the intake gaskets, could you have overlooked reconnecting the brake servo line? I mention this because I did. I had the pipe inserted but but forgot to tighten the fitting nut. The engine would start...but would immediately die.

Looked there, it was reconnected and tightened down. Tripled checked the wiring to the distributor to the spark plugs, all good.

Yeah. After everything I unplugged the battery for about a minute and then plugged it back in. Jumped the pins and all I got was the 12 code over and over again.

When you unplugged the battery you erased all stored codes. Need to drive to get codes back, then check it. 12 is just the beginning and end test code .
