Z51 upgrade
Im looking to purchase a convertible C7 Z 51. I have come across a few cars that have Z51 components installed but not Z51. How can a newbie be for sure its a Z51? Is it on the door panel or vin. I dont want to be tricked.

Pro
pop the hood & see if there's a dry sump. the wheel should be 19" front & 20" rear with slotted rotors
#3
Search the VIN or look in the engine bay for the dry sump tank (in the rear engine bay just in front of passenger side windscreen! All Z51 have dry sump, The standard Stingray don't and it is not possible to upgrade it easy or at all.
Everything else (19/20) tires, bigger brakes, spoiler, rear sway bar, mag ride etc could be retrofitted to the standard Stingray (some also possible as option I guess, e.g. mag ride).

Advanced
Slotted rotors are one of the easiest visual signs that show up in almost all vehicle listings. Some listings skimp out on the under the hood pictures (not sure why).

Look for the sticker (I forget where it is on the C7) that lists all the RPO build codes. Z51 would be listed. It's either in the trunk or glove box, I forget.
Attached in mine. Never mind, the attachment upload keeps failing and my file is smaller than the max file size for its file type.

Go to the top of this page. Click on tools, click on vin decoder, type in vin number. It will tell you if it is a Z51, it will tell you if it is 1 lt 2 lt or 3 lt.

A fully-equipped Z51 is a GS minus the wide body panels, and bigger tires and brakes on the latter.

Do you need a track handling car? Dry sump oil? Of course not. We bought a standard suspension car with painted wheels. Then spent the Z51 option money we saved on 19/20 HRE's. An upgrade you can see. And believe.

The easiest/fastest way to verify if a Stingray is a Z51 is to check the 5th digit of the VIN.
For 2014-2018 Stingrays: in every Z51-equipped car, the 5th VIN digit must be one of the following:
G, H, J, K, L, or M
A Stingray with any other digit in the 5th position indicates a non-Z51 car.*
VIN Examples of Z51 Stingrays: "1G1YGxxxxxxxxxxx", "1G1YKxxxxxxxxxxx", "1G1YMxxxxxxxxxxx", etc
*USA-spec cars only -- the above does not apply to exported Stingrays -- exports will have a "9" in the 5th digit.
