Clearly the answer is to relist it at $12500

Something some people just never seem to grasp:

"You are not entitled to a return. Any investment you make is only worth what someone will give you for it right now.. "

I don't know why this is so confusing?

It DOES appear to have received a lot of TLC. And, the paint looks very well done, as does the rest of the esthetic stuff.

However well appointed, it is to the original owners tastes, and therefore it will appeal to a very narrow market: has to be THEE right person to see it. AND, is so often the case, except for very few lenders, needing to finance it would be out of the question - a cash-only situation. Lots of car buying options out there w/o the financing barriers.

Tough sell, unfortunately... JMO

I'm confused?

Is it yours?

How do you know it is relisted differently?

I hope he did not do all these mods with the hopes to sell it.

Corvette mods done by shops are expensive. For a first time EDUCATED buyer of a corvette this is the smart route to go.

C4's are slow, and if stock auto can be down right lame.

If a real buyer was to get that at 10k-11K knowing they would do mods they would now be way ahead.

FWIW just my motor costs 2x what my entire car is worth. that is the c4 life.

If he wants to sell it fast, just raise the price to 20K and throw in the Mach 1.

I mean seriously, how do you even look the car over with the other car constantly distracting you?

Wonder what it sounds like with the Targa in the hatch and that big sub thumping.

While I was still in the market for a C4 I checked my local Craig's list several times a day. I still do often because my phone has local by owner ads for corvettes as a bookmark. That car has been listed for months, often times multiple ads in the same day. Sometimes accompanied by weird blanket threats like "last chance on Craig's about to be on offer up and let go"

Plus that car isn't registered in California yet the seller has a local sd area code. Leads me to believe he is either a flipper who "found" this car in Az and saw it as some sort of get rich quick scheme or that he has already tried to register in .CA and it's not smog legal. Either way I would avoid.

I called once and mentioned the high price and the guy told me to "meet him in a parking lot" so he could show me his "MMA moves" hahaha

I wonder if you subtract the labor charges from the receipts how much of an investment he would really have in the car?

I personally would never include labor costs in my investment in my car. Besides it's a bit scary to think about how much I've spent on my '84 & '91.

Reminds me of my in-laws' neighbors. Their $750-800k house is up for sale and they started asking $1 million. They got a bunch of $750K offers but want more so they raised the asking price to $1.2 million. Now they have zero offers. It also reminds me of this car because the house is completely remodeled but in a way only 1 out 500 might like and it is in a poor location. Same thing happens when you distastefully mod a low value car with crappy and gaudy junk.

Just show him your "moves like Jagger."

A parking lot dance off will always drive price clarity.

How did you leave all that out... That is hilarious

For all you guys questioning the 35k...

Remember a couple years ago a shop had the ***** to come on here and say they finished a car for a family that the father died and left the car.

They charged like 20-25k for intake, exhaust, gears, and maybe some other small boltons. It was ridiculous and I might have said it in the thread or maybe edited myself to spare others of the negativity, but that was a cruddy move on their part IMO.

I seen a "famous" c4 posted for sale with less mods and less power than mine that claimed like 80k in receipts here. Yes I am not shocked, but is he lying probably.

Clearly every time a car is modded it reduces the buyer audience. If someone wants something to put through NCRS, its' out. If someone wants a different mod, it's out. If there are mods to the drivetrain, those that don't want that, it's out. You get the idea.

To me, mods are Gimme's. When a car is sold, unless you find that really special person that really wants what you have done to it, whatever you put into it above the base value is given to the purchaser. This is assuming they want your car with the addons you've done to it.

My 2cents.

There is a guy with a 1995 with a six speed in my area that is asking $7,500. I would rather have the 1995.

I've raised my price on CL before, only to have someone offer me less, yet more than my original ad. It works, and there's plenty of fish.
