Default Today is the day I make the decision on headers for my C5 and I need everyone’s help!

Ok, Top Speed owes me 200 in labor they owe me from sending me the wrong Ti axle back that did not fit, so I’m already in the process on waiting for an e-mail from them on a header and x pipe package with a discount from the labor they owe me. 600 is my ceiling on headers and hoping to get deleted cat x pipe included. If not I guess I’ll havs to just put out the extra money to get this exhaust completed.

Things to consider :
The car is getting lowered this week so proper clearance and fitment is essential. I realize this is not the bolt in to have champagne taste with a beer pocket book so I’m gonna strongly consider the necessary options. Used preferably because new in my price range means a roll of the dice in fitment.
Lets get it done guys! I’m only giving “Top Speed” another shot because their giving me the professional curtesy of accomadating me for their mistake. Thanks guys

LABOR COST IS SEPERATE

Kooks. Period.

I know you said you want cheap, but what you save in cheap, costs you in labor for tweaking and fitting.

My mechanic has installed ALL of them. He told he to buy Kooks because they fit the BEST and go on the simplest. I listened.

That buys you about 2 hours labor, that won't go far installing headers, no matter the brand

My top three choices would be American Racing, LG Super Pro's, or Kooks. You DEFINITELY get what you pay for. I have installed all three and they all had absolutely zero fitment issues or issues of any kind.

Stay away from XS Power if buying used. They had a number of fitment issues and were inconsistent with the quality...ending in three different "versions" by the end of it.

I have them and bought NEW, and have had NO issues (Version 3). But who knows what you could be getting used and with your luck thus far, you'd likely get a bad set.

No vids of any, sorry. To my knowledge they all are sold as kits including the X-pipe, with or without cats.

Do I need the high flow cat to eliminate the terrible exhaust smell in the cab or what ?

... if you can wait then keep an eye out in the for sale section for a used set, they pop up every now and then and you will save a chunk of change buying used

Quit sitting in the garage with the car running. HF cats don't do much if you have a positive overlap cam. Stock cam shouldn't stink much either way unless the tune is off.

I'm pretty sure old LG Pros are different than the ones they sell now. The only way to get new headers cheap is ebay. They're Chinese, but, whatever.

So should I just get a deleted cat pipe?

I would say yes on that. Plus get the headers ceramic coated to help keep under hood temps down.

I never ran cats (still don't) and never got any smell inside the car.

Sure, if you're socially irresponsible. I ran without cats for a year or two, but it was too loud for me. I couldn't tell any difference in smell level after adding the HF cats.

Looks, LG and AR are good brands. Either of those would be a good choice.
