how far and is he the owner??? how much effort to load the car? is it running is there extra parts. did he make it on time.

I buy (through a tip) blue collar guys lunch all the time. I use to say have a drink on me and the wife objected so now its lunch....if you are particularly happy with the service and its a big bill make it a dinner for two. theres your range. I find it easy to slip them money to cover a meal.

I've always tipped $100 if everything went well.

It really depends-
If the Guy has to jump it off- goes out of his way-and get's it to you when he said he would- I usually tip $50 to 75. My transports have been in the $500-800 range -so about 10%.

Now this guy (in Atlanta) didn't get a tip!!! The driver dropped the car off and then took off!!!

"Tipping" isnt a city in china,

Good service deserves gratuities,

I have had a lot of cars and parts transported, some guys are great some are horrible,

The guy that hauled my 69 from ohio, he went above and beyond, he got several 100.00 extra,

Thr guy who saved my car from mike and hauled it from orlando to eustis at a moments notice doubled his asking price, worth every penny to me,

Some didnt get a penny extra.

$50.00 / bagged lunch and soft drinks for the road / the c7 cap the dealer gave to me (I know this is the c3 section) / a complimentary letter to the owner of the trucking company, and a letter of satisfaction to the car dealer

Do you guys tip the mechanic, plumber heating/cooling people? How about your doctor lawyer ETC. I feel that 1200.00/1500.00 to Intercity, Reliable ETC. is enough as the drivers are well paid & most are contract owner/drivers. If I use a local towing co. & the driver dose I good job I always give them extra. Anyone that comes to my house to do something I offer a drink. I tip well for those people whose wages depend on them.

Hundreds of dollars by the time everyone involved gets tipped? I'm paying full price for any service I get, home repairs, car repairs, whatever. Nobody's giving me any deals. Everybody's making money. If everything goes well, everyone involved gets a $20. They're always happy to get it, they're used to getting nothing.

I think it has everything to do with how he treats you and your car. When I blew the motor last year in my '79 I hired a local towing company to flat bed it home for me. The driver was more concerned about the welfare of my car than I was. When the car was safely unloaded I gave him an extra 20. From the look on his face, I don't think he'd ever received a tip before. Worth every penny.

Good service deserves gratuities

no set rule, if you decide to the amount is your call.
Nothing wrong with tipping a blue collar guy.
Mine got tipped a bill, good communication even why they were late.
They were honest, did the best they could so they ate better that weak. Not a person of means but being a tradesperson most my life it means something when people do. Dont see it much these days.

I am early 50s have a buddy i have known since i was about 5,
He is an embarrassment to go out with, hes not broke but not rich either yet when that check comes he either stiffs them, but knows better when im there or starts in with arithmetic to the penny what tip he will leave,

Some people just dont feel like great service is worth showing their appreciation, but that door swings both ways,
We even for example take care of sevice people like our mail carrier and trash collectors at the holidays, and i assure you we get extra special better service because of it,

Heck back in orlando she would text me if i got a package, very sweet.

Yep- I know that guy- my friend is named "Scott." I get separate checks. What's the difference between "Scott" and a canoe? A Canoe tips!!!

And I give the garbage guys treats (case of beer) when I have extra trash. A while back my neighbor had a long metal pole that was not picked up...for two trash days. I told my neighbor- if he put it in front of my house - they'd take it. He said I was FOS- -guess what? They took it.

It's all about karma.
If someone does a good job doing manual labor that I can't or wouldn't do myself, I tip them.
Makes them feel good, makes me feel good.
While I'm not wealthy, I live comfortably and giving someone an extra $20, $50 or whatever for doing a good job is no hardship on my part and they appreciate the gesture.
Besides, you can't take it with you....
