Default Dyno Results with GM Performance CAI

I took my A8 to Aikman Performance to get a couple pulls on their chassis dyno. We were all pretty surprised with the results. I do have the new CAI on from GM Performance. A little rough estimates of 755hp at the crank minus 12% parasitic loss would put the base wheel hp at around 664. Add the 17hp (minus 12%) for the CAI should have the wheel hp at about 675.5. Final graph below, but the net after two runs was 692HP and 673TQ.

Unfortunately, I don't have a baseline without it, but regardless I'm pretty happy about the numbers with the CAI installed!

Unfortunately, with no baseline on the DynaPack, there is no way to know how much, if anything, it picked up from the intake.
Makes good power, though.

What's the deal with the red trim on your wheels and aero? I've seen red-trim wheels on other C7s, but didn't see that option for ZR1s.

Very strong! I do like the red trim.

The red trim is something I've done. The wheels use a wheel ring that doubles as a curb guard but adds the color - which was what I wanted. The trim on the aero is vinyl pin striping tape I put on.

Agreed. However, if you believe the base hp rating and the 12% parasitic assumption, that would imply the CAI is adding around 28hp. Much higher than GM quotes. Regardless, bottom line is 692 with just the CAI is pretty good.

I'm not here to rain on anyone's parade, but that is, at very best, just a guess.
That's why a baseline is so important if upgrade results are to be considered.

As you said, the car is making great power.
Must be fun.

Those Dyno packs always read high. Have to get a baseline that number doesn't mean anything

Final numbers look to be very good, but I agree, without a baseline it’s hard to tell anything.

Vengeance Raceing just ran the baseline on there new ZR 1 with a A8 Trans. 641 RWHPso I would say the numbers are pretty close especially if this car is manual trans.

Totally different dyno.

Listen, I'm all for upgrades but if no baseline is made on the particular dyno used to measure upgrades, then how can it even remotely be called an accurate representation of any results?

OP, enjoy your car and show us the high 9 sec timeslip I believe you'll run with the car. (use drag radials!!)
Seriously, nice car making BIG power!

Different dyno.
The correct way to compare is to do a couple of dyno pulls to get a baseline, then change out the airbox and re-dyno a couple of times.

You should of gotten a baseline because you are just guessing and that's just useless data.

OP, Don't you wish you hadn't even posted now, tough bunch here.

Many of us appreciated you posting the info and it sounds like the car responds well to the intake change. I didn't see where you made any real or outlandish claims and I'd guess you're the only one with the new ZR1 that has posted here (other than me ).

I appreciate you posting the numbers. One thing... there's no disputing that you've got big hp going on there. Will be interesting to see track results too.

And I agree with those that like the red accents you've added... very nice.

-Thanks for the reply. I am curious about the wheel rings. Do you have a link?
