C6Z, its a love/hate thing.
As C6Z owners we know that there is plenty to love about these cars. Case in point. I actually drove mine today on a 4 hr trip ( 2hr out 2 hr back).. Its Texas, and HOT ( mid 90's today). Coolant temp 178-189, Oil temp 170-180, Average speed 75-135, AC blaring, Black car, 19-20mpg avg... Lost ZERO runs in Mexico even in this heat on long interstate runs. Those are just a few things that I love about these cars...
What I Hate..... Are all of the jack asses who want to race you, cut you off, run beside you when you are in the slow lane running 75-80, tailgate at speed, pass you then slow down! These jokers haven't a clue... Or perhaps they do...? Diesel trucks, Dodge Chargers,Challengers, of course Mustang GT's , BMW's,, Camaro's to name a few ALL want a piece. It seems as though (and I know It has been said) that these cars attract these **** ants everywhere we go... I didn't run the above mentioned in Mexico... Only a couple of C7Z's who did a fly by as I slowed down...
Anyway... Now I know why I don't drive my car anymore than I do. That being said, the Love far outweighs the hate and I can't think of any other Corvette i'd rather have. Except maybe a C6ZR1...
As a caveat.... This hood definitely dissipates some heat!!!

I once had a V6 Mustang try to race me. He was relentless. It was clearly stock and driven by some dumb teenager. I wanted to say, "Bro, do you hear this H/C/I/E Z? Do you really think you have a chance here?"
Unfortunately, I almost NEVER find a worthy competitor in my area. There was a newer GTR that I would have absolutely LOVED to race, but it was pouring outside. We both laughed and pointed at the sky with a sad expression. I've run up against a couple C7Zs, but they were driven by older men who had no interest in racing.
I absolutely love my Z06 and plan to keep it for a hell of a long time.

Minus the ground effects and hood my car looks the exact same as yours (black Z with comp grey wheels) and no one pays any attention to me when I take the car out. I'm from the DC metro area which has no shortage of high end cars so around here I'm just in a prior gen Chevy. I'm going to go ahead and say it's a Dallas thing.

I never get any of this when I'm rolling through a city or highway in my choppy cam usually I'm the one to pull
up on a aventador and want to race but like always ....nothing maybe cause it's California.....**** this place

I would love that oil temp, I took my Z around the block and she was around 200 anda tad under 210 at idle. Granted I have a Vararam and my shroud is cut to fit it. I also have not gone over 35-40 MPH. Would the Vette Air box thing help?

Can relate to the idiots with other cars trying to prove a point for some reason when the Z is on the road.
I don't drive it much but when I do the idiots seem to multiply by 10x compared to when I drive my beater.
Constantly someone getting in front of you and cutting you off. Merging lanes they need to really speed up and just pass you before their lane ends. Instead of getting behind you.
Love taking the car out early Sunday morning when no cars are on the road.
Lets be honest here though, we do drive the best looking corvettes ever made and they just stand out on the road!
What is that vented hood, custom made?

I seriously doubt your oil temp gets to 200-210 just by going around the block. I'm pretty sure you are talking about coolant temp since you mentioned a Vette Air box.

Matt is still under 190 though, what is normal? Is that at cruising speed? My buddy says that 200 is ok and close to 210 at idle due to the Vararam.

I never get any action when I'm out in my Z, but oh u can bet as soon as we hop in my daily or my wife's car there's some kind of car flying around us that would've been fun to play with SMH

I've had my Z about 8 years now and have put 50,000+ miles on it. Never had a car want to race. Maybe it's because I'm old now and these young whipper snapper's are scared to get beat by me. That or everyone in California is too PC to want to race. I even asked 427V8BB to come out to the track with me, nope one excuse after another.

Smallish medium cam with LTs and a Zr1 catback. It makes enough noise when the baffles are open (and they always are) that anyone even remotely into cars would know it's not stock.

If you're trying to combat higher coolant temps, which happens with Vararams on the street...cooler T-stat and adjust the fan settings in the tune.

I am interested in it more for directing more air towards the radiator. If the VR is a bust, then I will probably go Halltech.

I encounter drivers like that all the time. Hellcats, Camaros, mustangs etc. as far as my coolant temp mine crusing on the freeway it goes down to ~180. Traffic it goes up to 195-200 Callaway CAI here.

I've got a bit of that in SoCal, but I always assume it's good natured until proven otherwise. Most people just want to see the Z in all it's glory and try to goad you into showing them. I've even had a cabby in a Prius at a stop light ask me point blank to give him a show with a huge genuine smile on his face! Too bad for me there was a cop hiding up the street! Luckily I didn't give it 100% or go much past the speed limit or do anything super unsafe and he let me go.
