coyote 6th gen mustang
was cruising in my grand sport last night in quiet exhaust mode with the a/c on in mexico...
i see a 6th gen mustang creeping up on me. it was a two lane road, he merged into the next lane to try and play but too much traffic... he revved the typical mustang exhaust. not sure if it was modified at all.
we eventually came up to a stop light where the right lane ends. light turns green and my michelin pilot sports did not disappoint. we were dead even until i was in the middle of 3rd where i started to pull a bit.
long story short. too close for me. need some more power not sure what to do next. i did not really want to open the motor up.
it's a 2010 GS M6 with kooks long tube 1 3/4 headers 3" Race catted x-pipe with stock NPP exhaust and a hurricane intake.

If you don't want to open the motor up, just bolt an A&A supercharger on it.

again i didn't want to open it up. but i may for a cam swap but there are so many cam choices. i like the way it drives now. just some more umph.

In that case, look into stage 2 or 3 cam packages from Texas Speed or Brian Tooley Racing.

It's simple: "Money buys Speed". The LS engine responds very well to bolt ons but they should complement each other. A good performance shop familiar with the LS engines should give you some good recommendations on how to proceed.

i was surprised and felt more confident when i hit 3rd gear. there was not enough room to use more.
in my younger days i would have bolted a charger or did some serious mods. but this vette is just overall nice. as far as driving etc.
i'll check in to a camshaft recommendation.

i'm not sure what the difference is between a 2017 and 2018. it was a manual car.

The 2018 GT is pretty damned fast, don't under estimate them, rated at 460 hp and maybe under rated at that number, seems they are making like 430RWHP, on a DynoJet, not too shabby at all

I raced a friend of mines GT350 on a closed course. 30-100ish. He would very slowly walk me. Mustangs make great power but they are heavy heavy heavy. The 2018 GT is quick in the 1/4 mile, but it's mostly gears. Once you start getting up closer to 100+ they are going to fall back as Mcrider stated.

Not long ago an article was linked, some 60-70 yo racing ended up with a 18 year prison term cant remember the details but that was the outcome, at his age he might not come out.

I follow this guys YouTube channel as he is pretty cool about his GT, anyway he is admittedly running DR's, E85 and a tune but his et & speeds are pretty friggin awesome for a basically stock 2018 GT. Fast forward to around 7:30 for his best run, AMAZING Ford is doing it

What does age have to do with it? I am 71, and joyfully will defend the Corvette name against any and all comers with my 800+ rwhp 2005 car........ of course, when traffic conditions allow.

Add intake, exhaust and a tune and you will be at 500HP. The new mustangs hold their own.

^^This, plus cam and trickflow heads. Personally, since you love the way it drives, I recommend either an Edelbrock or Magnuson TVS system - most bang for the buck and retain stock characteristics.
