Default Z06/GS brakes on a Z51

Has anyone changed the Z51 front brakes (caliper+rotor) for the Z06/GS ones (steel rotor). I’m afraid these will be to wide for the stock wheels.

Diameter wise they will clear, but you’ll need 5mm spacers to clear the calipers if using stock Z51 wheels.

Done this change. Finding wheels to clear is a challenge without going custom. Replica Z06 19/20 will clear. User X25 has gotten CCWs to clear. I'm currently waiting on a set of TSW interlagos as I have been told my multiple people they clear as well.

Does a 5mm spacer require a longer lug stud, or is that still within a safe range?

Instead of changing the lug stud you can switch over to Extended Thread lug nuts. They have a .3 inch thread extension that goes through the wheel. 5 mm is about .2 inch so there is plenty of thread engagement available by using these lug nuts. I got mine from CCW when I had to run some spacers with my CCW wheels.

The following picture shows the .3 inch ET nut with a longer one. You need to make sure you don't get the longer one. If you get that one the wheels won't be tight on the rotor.

I have used the .3 in ETs with both the CCW and stock wheels with no issues.

Thanks, Bill. I didn't know about extended lug nuts. I don't have GS/Z06 brakes on my radar right now, but it's something I might reconsider in the future. This will be good info to have.

Bill, do you have a link to order these? Perhaps in black?
