Default Sto-N-Sho installed

Hi folks, just wanted to share another "mod" on my Z06 - I live in New York state which requires front plates, but I didn't want to do any permanent affixing, so I installed a Sto-N-Sho from Amazon. I am not going to link to it since I think that's against the rules, but it was like $85 and although I think that's a little pricey for a few pieces of metal, it does appear to be pretty high quality.

I also got to use my low profile jack for the first time which was fun, and got to take a good look under the car for the first time. I did find some repair work on the splitter, but it's way on the bottom so you wouldn't notice it from above, and the repair looked like pretty decent work. I'm sure some point I'll scrape that sucker too so I wasn't too upset to find it.

Anyway, the install was super straight forward, three screws off, three screws on, done!

Cheers!

I went with Sto N Sho when I took delivery almost a year ago. Works great easy to remove for cruise nights. No scraping so far.

Nice product, and get yourself a set of Race Ramps. You’ll get more use out of them than the set you have leaning against the wall.

Yep, it's on the (very long) list... Those ramps still work great for my pickup, my wife's mini van, and of course my 4 wheeler! The Boss 302 I traded also didn't work well on those ramps, but I could back onto them to lift it up to do exhaust work anyway.

be careful parking with curbs. One curb damage my sto n sho so bad it was trash. I just when with the aero plate bracket and cut it down to the plate size.

Yup! Went through two on my C6 and trashed the last one the day before I traded it in. On the other hand, better to destroy the plate holder than damage the car's body work.

If you are going to run with a front plate that is the way to go, nice choice and nice job.

I've gotten pulled over twice for no front plate.

Each time I said, sorry I must have forgot to put it back on

No ticket both times

I installed a Sho N Sto to allow front plate removal. It is very well made and simple to install. The only downside I noticed is that the retaining pin on the left hand receiver tube must be pulled to allow the plate holder rod to be inserted and locked. A couple of seconds on a bench grinder chamfered the corner of the rod to allow it to pass the plunger and "push lock" into place. As mentioned, its profile is a bout 1/2 inch lower than the stock splitter, making the front cameras very important to avoid damage.
An additional caveat is that I installed a Novistretch bra, but it obscured the view of the front cameras, and I could not see the curb that took out the Sto N Sho and tore a hole in the Novistretch bra ... Big Mike's Performance sells the new bracket for $50, but I don't plan to replace the $149 Novistretch bra. $200 wasted
