Default My C5’s latest look

All my life when a problem needs to be fixed “what’s your attention on” is the question I have to answer to myself. To my surprise I’m losing interest in my vette. I can add all the visual upgrades available and still no value of any kind is achieved. I’d rather drive a bucket rusted out road runner or coronet with a 440/727 torque flight with a 10 inch converter and a manual valve body that ***** on anyone willing to suffer the embarrassment of old mopar muscle leaving you with only tail lights to remember me by. Could care less about the visual. I’m All about the hammer, the wow factor of torque and speed.

The problem facilitating my loss of interest is the lack of horse power building talent within a reasonable distance in my area; forcing me to buy little isual Dd ons to keep me busy and suffering the hireing of sub par mechanics that deliver less than expected results. For instance you wouldn’t know I had lowering bolts pit on unless I told you. I was expecting a cautious exit out of the bay but all I got was “yeah just drive it around it’ll settle where it needs to be” an experienced professional would have given me the answer why it’s not as low as the bolts were designed for, and demanded i bring it back to come up with a definitive solution.

So, I found 2 shops I’m happy to let work on my car but like any good service waiting a little longer is expected per the volume of work they do. Took a couple pics of my C5’s latest appearance. When I get her back with the full exhaust on and hopefully dropped the full measure I paid for with the proper rake of a solid C5. 😊

Sweet ride. I know exactly about living FAR from a tuning shop.

Car looks good and it does take a little driving to get the suspension to settle down.

Thanks guys. I’m already at the point where the car feels slow and I’m in desperate need of at least the full exhaust and tune in-flux ic HP. The pace this process has gone, if this guys gonna have my car for what he says is 2 days, to do the exhaust I might aswell get on the phone with someone who knows more than me and over night the rite cam with valve train and just say, forget 2 days. Call me when it’s done. Ill bring this bad boy to life while it’s gonna be down for a few days. Nothing worse than being without my DD.

Thanks man but it took some restraint to ask him if he was ******* with me. Literally looked like if may have went down 1/2 inch.... I was hot

After I got it home, jacked up the front and inspected the threads and I couldn’t believe it. They were completely bottomed out!

Full exhaust mean headers ? That will add power also along with one of the cold air intake blackwing, airaid etc.

And being that the rears are 295/35/18.... that 35 already leaves a lot of tire to top of wheel well space in there so adjusting the rake would only make it worse. Had I known it was this much of a PITA I wouldn’t do it again. My brand new Z06 shocks ain’t worth **** now.

i don’t want to see any air in those wheel wells. Maybe that’s a touch much but I just wasn’t impressed with the result. Tell me if where I’m at is close to these pics.

In the previous posted picture that is my car. Its only lowered on stock bolts, but maybe the 19" wheels and the side skirts are making it look super low. I do have a lot of miles on the suspension settings and I was very careful to make sure the tire diameters were super close to the stock size tires. I get lots of people commenting on the lowness of my car. I'm able to drive it regularly without any serious scraping problems and it still rides very well, Bilstein shocks. I also cut my front bushings in half so they are still in use. Where are you, original OP in NJ, if you'd like to meet. I have headers and complete exhaust plus Callaway intake and a few other things done. I'm up north of Newton.

The spoiler and the front canards were put on long before the skirts and have been painted. I couldn't decide to paint the skirts or not. So I asked everyone I knew and tabulated the opinions. More people liked them black so I left them like that, they are not even painted. That's the way the bare fiberglass came. I just wipe them down with detail spray periodically. I had also thought of wrapping them. Ultimately I'm glad I didn't do anything. I wind up kicking them alot getting in and out. BTW, my wife liked them black so it made that decision easier. I bought the skirt on the auction site from I think the vendor's name was C5West. $250 and they are excellent quality 'glass. Didn't need any work to make them fit properly. They have also put up with a lot of abuse and have no cracks.

Well how about that. That makes a lot of sense given the illusion of I’m guessing the height of your tear tire is 40 on a 19 inch rim taking up more space with a suspension that will sag more from more miles. While I have a rear 35 height tire with 18inch rims and my car has only 43k miles on it. There’s certainly some pretty substantial differences to show for low stance. And I’m guessing you have the Bilsteins 8’s designed ( and shorter in length ) specifically for the lowering bolts? Ya see I knew I should have bought them with the lowering bolts. That was originally a package deal. And absolutely the skirts are giving it a lower profile and look so good buddy!!

Yes, I live in south jersey zip code 08089. I’d love to take a trip up there just to see your ride. It’s the exact blue print of what I’m trying to accomplish. I’ve never seen anyone with the vents and the skirts. Let me see how far Newton is. Tommorrow is Sunday so that might be perfect.

Cheapest I found the skirts are 272 a piece, fiberglass though. The carbon fiber are 454. I can settle for the fiberglass to keep the silver the silver and black theme going
