Default A great unexpected surprise

So from time to time when I get bored I will just play on the net and do stuff like google my name for instance. So last weekend I was in storm duty in Jersey and had some time on my hands while eating lunch. So I google my name and put corvette in the search.

Corvette forum always pops up but I kept seeing hits for Vette Vues Magazine. Turns out they did a 14 page story on my 66 last September and I had no idea! It was from Carlisle 2016 when I had the car there with the original owner. Pretty cool stuff and they did a good job.

Most
everyone in here knows the story so I won’t go into it, I’m just kind of shocked because I had no idea.

Wow! Nice surprise. Now you need to get your hands on a couple of copies of that issue of Vette Vues.

An amazingly similar thing happened to me. In 1986 I was walking through the vendors' area at Laguna Seca and came upon a booth filled with posters. Immediately, I turned up one with a picture of my car that had been published by Automobile Quarterly. I naturally knew that AQ had published and extensive series on the 300 SL in 1975 (Vol. 13, No. 2) as I was part of the photo shoot at Lime Rock Park, but I had no idea that it had generated a poster as well. The poster came back to New York with me and I have since acquired several others in varying sizes.

If you have one of these classics you never know where it may turn up in print or online media - I've had similar surprises....all good ones fortunately....

My '61 appeared in a Florida newspaper unbeknownst to me....I had talked to some guy with a camera for 10 minutes and didn't know he was a reporter. if I'd know the ole gal was gonna be in the paper we would have gone "bra-less".

How the heck did you not know about it? Didn't they send you notice or a few copies of it?
When my 66 was in Corvette News I was notified by them, and they sent me about 4 copies of that issue.

I had mine show up on a renewal card from Corvette Enthusiast Magazine years ago. I didn't have one sent to me...but a buddy did and brought it to me.

Once you're published...it's amazing where you'll show up!

I can vaguely remember talking to someone at their booth but it was real quick and I mentioned my car, but you know how crazy it gets up there and I figured I got lost in the shuffle or they were not interested.
