Keeping it Stock...
I love my 13 GS just the way Chevrolet made it. I read all the modifications some owners make and it’s ok but just not for me. Chevrolet spends thousands of design and engineering hours to make Corvettes the best they can be. Modifications sometimes cause additional problems that are difficult to diagnose and fix. Some spend thousands of dollars for serious modifications only to lose thousands of dollars when they try to sell their cars. Look at the for sale ads, you don’t see many stock one owner models but lots of modified versions that are difficult to sell. Dealers usually shy away from modified cars for trade ins but will give you high dollar trade in bucks for a stock model. Just my own personal thoughts on Corvette ownership... just say’in

Chevy built a good car. The modifications I made make it a great car. I didn’t buy this thing to sit in a garage and collect dust. I bought it to drive and enjoy. **** resell and trade in. It’s mine, I bought it, I’ll do whatever the **** I want with it. It’s got a 100k miles on it and I’ll keep driving it until the seat falls out from it.

What I did was for my enjoyment, knowing not going to get extra money at resale, did it to make it mine.

A number of years ago I went to a Corvette show at Lake Tahoe. A member of Chevy's high performance design team spoke. He thought modifications were great because they allowed the owner to personalize his Corvette. If he helped designed the car and thinks modifications are great, who am I to argue?

Why worry about resale, theres no set rule about what any yr car would sell for. Like worrying about mpg. Its a used car, just nuts and bolts go run the pee out of it then get another one.
Plenty of buyers who like either. Some like blonde, some like brunettes.

Personalization. Thats all. Everyone is different. You like yours one way. Others like theirs another way.

My Corvette is heavily modified and it is FAR more amazing than a stock C6. I baby it everywhere it goes but no way can you compare a stock C6 to one that has been built right.

OP, I'm another 'stock' guy even though I did get a dealer installed shaker hood on my GT/CS. You know what is tough to find stock? An '01 Trans Am. Mine is still stock right down to the 16" chrome rims. I've enjoyed it "as it came from the showroom", buying it new so many years ago. Just about at 60k miles now. My C6 will also stay stock as long as I own it.

I certainly didn't buy my car with resale in mind. I bought to enjoy and drive.

I don't know if I have ever left any car of mine completely stock. At the very least I prefer an exhaust upgrade for a little more growl. Most of the things I do to my cars are reversible though and I usually keep the stock parts just in case.

Chevy built a sports car for the common denominator
Stock is great and full on modded race car is great. Your car is all yours to do as you see fit.
That said, Chevy did not build the perfect car for every environment. My example - 2012 A6 GS located in Arizona. It ran too hot when in slow traffic. I installed one of DeWitts big tube, twin fan radiators with TOC and EOC to help keep it cool. A vented hood may be next if we stay here in the desert. The brake pads (stock) squealed like an inner city bus and the dust on the chrome wheels was unsatisfactory so on went some Hawke ceramic pads to solve that. Shocks were not what I wanted so on went some Konis. Run flat tires sucked so on went some NRF's. Stock exhaust droned so on went a Corsa X-Pipe and some "Sport" cans. Sensible mods for me and my car for this environment and usage.

I have no wish to spend money on purely cosmetic mods, and I don't crave more power or noise than the car came with. It's not about resale, it's about my personal taste. What other people do with their cars and their money is their own business.

Gone are Goodyears and front brake pads. Michelins/Carbotech make the car so much better. Actually drove my car about 400 miles yesterday and I can still see chrome on the wheels for the first time. M2W is great also. Interior partition and block it kit are probably next. But that is about it for me. Not worried about trade in. There is no way I'm paying mid $70-80k to get what I want new.
