American Racing Torq or Cragar
OK I am looking at wheels and trying to figure out which is better
American Racing Torq Thrust II or Cragar S/S Super Sport Chrome Wheels. Has anyone been able to compare the two (not pictures on web site) but actually seeing in person. I did see pic of Torq thrust with 17x8 on front and 18x9 on rear, was a 1972. I have a 1979 expecting what fit on the 1972 will also fit on mine (correct if I am wrong)
Which are better?
thanks appreciate the feedback

The one YOU like is best. They both look good but for the last 20 yrs everyone and their brother buys TT. Camaro vette mustang you name it.
Dont know all the yrs and what fits perfect but dont see why a 235/60/15 front on a 7 or 8 in rim and 255/60/15 on an 8 wouldnt work. Std C3 backspace.

BFG 255-60R15 on 15x8 American Racing Torque Thrusts:
These wheels are specially made by American Racing for Corvette Central to fit C3 Corvettes. Apparently stock Torque Thrusts will not fit over the Corvette brake calipers. (According to Corvette Central.)

I prefer the Cragar S/S.

I had Cragar SS on my '70 back in the day...best looking car in town, but you will need spacers to clear the calipers...

Think the retro Rockets are being sold too no idea who makes them
Classic stuff right there, black C3 with Cragars!
Note to OP..before you mount your tires have each rim spun on thier machine to make sure they are 1)actually round 2) runout is Ok.
Mfrs "specs", or that machine may say they are in tolerance if you add enough weights but it may vibrate or in my case tear the tires up in 50 miles. Learned the hard way with aftermarket Rallyes, even welds arent what they were.
If you order from Summit, they can mount and balance for you. If theres a problem returns are no issue.
Sad that a crappy factory wheel is perfect and most wheels are way less than unless youre spending big bux.

Back in the 60's and 70's I remember seeing a lot more Cragar SS than Torque Thrust. These days and for the last couple decades, I see far more TT than SS. I like both. It depends on the color of the car and how much chrome it has as to which one I would choose.

Again 'back in the day' very popular wheels on these cars were American 200s [the daisy wheel] and Appliance wire mags [ the aluminum ones] To me the torque thrust's were more a 60's thang...

I have std TT2's on my '70 and they fit okay, like any wheel you need to make sure the backspacing is correct. Mine are 17" though so it may be different for 15".

I tried Cragars but you need a rather thick spacer to clear the brake calipers...did not want that. The American Racing Torque Thrust II fits and clears the brake calipers with NO spacers.

What size?
If you want 17" or 18" wheels then the Cragars are out since they don't come in anything larger than 15".
If you are looking for 15" then the Cragars are heavier which will affect your braking and acceleration.
If you are looking for 17/18" wheels then you could also look at REV Classic 100 wheels since they are similar to the AR TT2 wheels.
