Autobahn = fast! Even in KPH!
Was checking out random Corvette videos on YouTube and came across a C6 running WOT on the Autobahn. Even though 187 mph is fast (not running on the track), 302 kph seems ridiculous! I think it's just seeing 300+ on a digital speedometer.

I saw 314 kph just before he let out of it at the end of the video.
314 kph = 195 mph

I was a passenger at 300 KPH outside of Munich in a M5. The owner told me there were very few wrecks on the autobahn, but when it happens 'they are spectacular'. every now and then someone from the east block will pull out into the fast lane with their Skoda and it is done.

I lived in Germany for three years and visit often. Driving the autobahn is an interesting experience. It is very true that accidents are seldom.. but spectacular.
There are not many places on the autobahn where you can truly hit these speeds. Just remember, it doesn't matter how fast you go, there is always a faster car coming up behind you.
The highest speed I've done is 142mph. Not in a Corvette... VW Passat diesel wagon.

I lived for 8 years in Germany. Notice how the Germans drive over there. Driving right, passing left, also using a thing called turn signals. Road's concrete is also about 2 feet thick so good lucky cracking that anytime soon.
There is always someone faster than you also so you better keep an eye on that mirror.

I am a skeptic by nature. While the HUD did appear to show 300+, it looked to me like the RPM was never above 5300. Also, near the end, he passed a service van, and did not go screaming by it. If the service van was doing 100 mph (doubtful), he would have passed it like it was standing still.
Having never driven over 160, I admit that I might be incorrect about the van speed. Any others out there who felt it did not appear to be 195 mph?

191 mph on the A5 outside Frankfurt back in 2005. Made 160 feel like 75 mph.
Scary too.

Tractor trailers and busses have strict speed limits.

Only on a closed track. No one but myself should die because of malfunction or my error.

I agree. A5 between Frankfurt and Darmstadt was my favorite when I was stationed in Germany. I never knew until years later the story of Bernd Rosemeyer and that there is a memorial right off A5 to him.
