Default Z06 Cam Install

Hello,

I am thinking about having a cam installed. I currently have installed, Billy boat headers, x-pipe high flow cars, Billy boat fusion exhaust, Afe carbon fiber intake and ported throttle body with tune. I don't really know much about the process of having a cam installed but love the sound.

If anyone has this installed and went through the process would great to hear of your input.

Also would is a rough shop install cost?

Thank you

I don’t know what area you are in, but expect about 6k installed, all in with DOD delete and such. More important than price is the shop/person you choose to do it, lots of places will tell you 1 week and the car will still be there in 2 months. I don’t do that crap...

Have you researched shops in CA? If none available, then you have great options in AZ and TX. Keep in mind, whoever you have it installed by AND re-tuned, that it most likely will require you leaving for your car for a few days at least. Are you willing to pay over $6K for the sound? If I was looking at installing a cam, it would be for the drivability, performance increase, and then sound in that order. It sounds like you may want to do some research to help determine what it is that you want. I'm guessing you've already figured out the CA emissions procedures in regards to modified vehicles there.

About 800 rwhp going to be a 2-3 week project between when shipping out parts to be ported and put back together.

I currently installed headers, x-pipe and exhaust all Billy Boat with AFE carbon intake.

I’m going to say around 740-750rw on a dynojet. The 2nd or 3rd pull is going to really suck if you don’t upgrade the heat exchanger and/or add a tank to ice it down (but if your doing that, you need to re-route intercooler lines).

Who's doing your install and tune? If I would have saw this earlier a I would have recommended GP Tuning, only a few shops up north that I would take my car to.

I hope to have it all back with tune by end of next week but wont be able to pick up till Tuesday the 28th as I am out of town.

Katech is such a great company Jason helped out a lot to push the order.
