Safety Car
I will venture to say that the cab and the central structure of this car will appear on the C9 FE car. The magnesium sub frames and engine cradle can easily be revised to swap ends. Both cars will be cheap. We are about to witness GM at it's best and the sports car world is getting very worried. possibilities abound. Keep America great.

Is it me or the left one is actually larger than the right one? There's obviously some difference between the bumpers too. Also, notice how the the two have different wheels on them, maybe they are testing two different variants here..?
My guess is that the right one is the base model with the lt1, while the left is the 600hp tt variant

I've noticed this in previous spy shots and came up with my sketch. The left side is wider than the right.

It's curious how different people look at the same photo and have a different interpretation. I do not see different wheels. I see different light on the same wheels. I don't see different bumpers rather I see a tight fit on the left auto and a loose hanging bra on the front of the right one. I do see what appears to be a spyder configuration on the right one. They appear to be the same vehicle to me.

I thought them both spyders. The rear cover looks floppy on both, and the left passenger window open appears to show a fat buttress. Here's the image with the brightness cranked up. I don't see much different either that can't be explained by differences in the covers.

here is just some things I highlighted that I noticed:
First off, the wheels are the most obvious in terms of differences, like here is an example of two mid engine vettes with different sets of wheels from other spyshots:
The design of the left vette's wheels look more exotic, so I would assume this is the higher end model (though I like the black wheels more).
Another difference though less distinct is the front bumper of the left vette, which seems to protrude more than the right vette. I'm guessing that this is possibly for aero/downforce. Then again though, this difference is not seen from the two other photos I provided.
The least distinct difference is the sides of the car The right car seems to have more of an indent than the left car which I highlighted.

Yeah now looking into its probably an optical illusion, like things closer seem bigger but they are actually the same size.

Melting Slicks
I Always believed that the y1 and y2 market analysis document which leaked a few months ago, had to do with y1 ,being the coupe
and y2 being the spyder.
Why the 2 different designations?
Must be some small differences between them....
I can’t make out what the difference is,they don’t look identical from the side profile.
It probably has to do with the cargo capacity challenges that they couldn’t neglect in the coupe.
That document also created all the Front engine and mid engine built at the same time rumours.

The thing that I'm kinda seeing.... look at the left car... on the hood... in front of the "fake" scoop... it looks like either 1 large indention with a seam supporting the cladding or... 2 indentions.. (reverse scoops if you will).... like the cladding is not being supported from the hood...ie dip scoops like the Ferrari... or I may need to get an eye exam...lol..

EDIT: But that’s not to say your observation is not true.

I suspect there are no GM parts #’s for any piece of cladding for any of these ME Cars. Thus probably hand cut as desired to do the job, maybe even by different people with their own biases in fabrication causing the difference in how the cover(s) lay. My opinion anyway.
EDIT: But that’s not to say your observation is not true.

yep... completely agree... prolly someone at an sewing machine making them to fit... it does seem both cars have that dip...in front of that fake scoop.. can't wait to see what this thing looks like...

I wonder what stage these prototypes are. If I had to guess and if the car is truly a 2020 that would mean they would only be a year and maybe a few months from full blown production at the plant. They would almost have to do a batch of cars out of Bowling Green by Thanksgiving to validate the build process and the pre saleable cars quality in case of any process issues and have ample time to make changes/corrections to the line and the cars.
Since they built, if I remember, correctly 88 C7 IVERS, then as you suggested C5Driver, all is on schedule for all of them to be easily completed before Thanksgiving.
However, everything, as always depends on real world testing and what subsequent mods they might wish to make on the next batch of mules. Perhaps the Florida dead battery incident was analyzed and determined to be a “one off,” or conversely, that they learned something that needed to be changed — and would want to make that change before they do more of them.
