Default greater hood height for 63 vette

Replacing era correct motor with a white engine, they need another 4 inches above the stock hood. I want to keep the hood grills and find a scoop that will fit on my hood that will look nice

What you haven’t said is how much beyond 4” height you need. How wide and long?

What does the White engine do, that an engine with an intake manifold, carb, & filter that fits under the stock hood fails to do?

Default Hood clearance

I am ltrying to keep the current hood for the 63 yet have a radical motor. Replacing the eta correct motor not an oem. White performance folks in Tennessee needs room for their intake setup. Was trying to figure out how to modify hood to accommodate such.
Moving in another direction. Researching the lsx 454 with edelbrock cross ram. Hope the engine will fit without requiring hood mods. I have decided to keep the hood original in my quest for a 600 hp motor with some radical sound. Thx

there are a couple of replacement hoods with 'bubbles' and 'glue-on' hood scoops available but none with the cookie sheet indentations. "I" certainly would not modify an original 63 hood that is in good condition; i'd get a ready-made aftermarket

I don't know how relevant it is but this car owner lives about a mile from me and the car builder (a forum member) lives about 12 miles from me...it is an LS-7 restomod and since this video the owner has added an Edelbrock supercharger......he may have added a plexiglass window in the hood (I don't remember) but still kept the stock height profile.

I would think this car makes 600hp+ without breathing hard. I doubt he can keep it "hooked up" even with the beefiest tires that would fit. Everything has limits (something to consider):
