dealers auction cost for a '11 GS
I have a local dealer here in Durham that has been trying to sell for 2 months a......
2011 3LT JSB GS, 19k miles, auto, all black interior. I could not find but 1 or 2 micro flaws. The JSB is pretty darn flat and looks great. Under hood is mint....whole car really. Looks like a new car...$37k is the asking and they will deal on this(I didn't pursue the actual nice price as I don't have the cash in my hand just yet(house sale).
Soooooo.....I wonder how much they got into this car?
Thanks for any input.

Only the dealer will know as it was probably a trade-in and they low-balled the previous owner. The dealer knows what they have and worth on today's market. JSB is probably my favorite color. I would feel the dealer out on price and how anxious they seem to be on moving it. As it was used, it's not costing them anything sitting on it.

I looked at the link. I'm not a fan of blue, but I really like that color. You are just going to have to see how badly the dealer wants to move it. I think 33-35k would be a pretty good deal on this car. You can find C6 GS all day long in that range.

how much did this Used Car Dealer pay at auction for this car??
AND, why would a (seemingly) real nice car like this end up at an auction?? Someone got low-balled on trade-in and that dealer couldn't move it so they take it to auction?

Ask them what the back story is but take it with a grain of salt. Are you positive that this dealer obtained this car from an auction?
It could have been a trade in on something other than a Chevy and the receiving other make dealer offered it up to what looks like an independent high end used car dealer.

They have a 6 month/7,500 mile warranty and can also provide a aftermarket warranty company @ 4-yr./50k for $2,200.

Carfax looks normal and it was a GM certified car prior to the last owner. Price seems high but it is from a dealer. KBB puts my '11 GS at $37K Which would be a nice down payment on at C7.

One of the 4 was from a car dealer.
I am really impressed that all 3 kept this car scratch free. I'm a body/paint man and was sure trying hard to find a panel or paint correction/repair on this one. It really does look almost like a new car sitting in the show room. They need a photographer for their online ads though that's for sure. .

I'd be surprised if they paid less than $30k or more than $32k for it.
I've noticed after years in the business and more years as a consumer that used car lots like the one you're dealing with have no problem holding onto cars for several months. What I don't know is if it's an ego thing, or, like these guys told you, to have a flashy car in the showroom and for ads, or to get people in the door. However at a new car dealer who sells used cars, with some exceptions, the idea is to turn inventory ASAP. At 30 days on the lot, they start getting anxious. At 60-90 days management/principals start twitching out. To them, cars aren't special, it's just what they sell. They don't get attached. And although they're not paying floor plan, these places don't have a bottomless checking account. And I'd bet most new car dealers would rather have three decent Malibus (or Corolla, Accord, etc.) on their lot than one extra nice vette, especially in an oddball color.
Long story short, you're a lot more likely to get a car at cost at a franchised dealer than you are at a used car lot.
$35k sounds fair and $37k isn't outrageous for that car if it's the exact one you want. Step up and buy it. There's something to be said for not having to wait for months, drive all over the region, waste precious weekends, agonize over emails, deal with dishonest sellers, etc. just to save a thousand or two.

I'd have to agree w. 919 above. No matter what we think, too, blue is not a color.everyone wants. And used car dealers are very different from new car dealers who have used car lots.

I wouldn't be surprised if the previous owner was relieved of his car for about $26-28k. I would be curious why you would be the 5th owner at 19k miles.

Yes....I spoke with the business owner and they are not shy about admitting to auction purchases(he said they bought this one and a yellow 90k miler on same day). Said they like to keep an eye candy unit around for the show room....apparently(i researched) they usually have a nice vette or even a bike for sale. I was quite impressed with the owner and the sales guy.....fairly knowledgeable about C6's and absolutely no pressure tactics.

Not necessarily. I bought my 05 in Feb 2014 with 59K miles on it from the original owner (private party). Although I paid cash for the Vette, I purchased an extended warranty from my credit union. The warranty was for 4 years or an additional 50k miles. It covered everything including all electronics for $2340.00. Not long after I bought it I noticed a slight transmission fluid leak, approx. I drip every 3 weeks. My warranty company paid 3 times to find and finally stop the leak. Pulling the manual trans 3 times wasn't cheap. They also paid to replace the a/c compressor. In total they paid out just over $6K in repairs with no hassle.
