Default Anyone going to Spring Mountain Aug 6/7???

I'm SUPER excited!!!

I have a crazy 6 days a week 12 hours a day work schedule running my restaurant but I was able to take a couple days off in August so I booked the Corvette 2-day class.
It'll be my first time getting any sort of driving instruction and also the first time on a road course.
Anyone else here going those days???

I'm reading through as many posts about the school as I can search but if anyone has any tips on clothes/shoes/etc. let me know!

I'm doing the 2 day Owners School July 13-14 for my new ZO6, but I've been before to the Level 1 School. For clothes, wear something cool, because it will likely be 100+ degrees. Short sleeve t-shirt or golf shirt, a lot of guys wore shorts, either a good pair of sneakers or cross-trainers, no flip-flops or sandals. If you want to buy Racing Shoes, they sell Piloti in the shop, not sure of the price, but I'd guess in the $150 range. In the summer months they usually start at 7AM, the clubhouse opens for breakfast about 5:30 if memory serves me correctly, nice layout for both breakfast and lunch. There is lots of water and energy drinks available in the classroom, stay hydrated. Lots of good instruction there, just listen to the Instructors and follow their direction, don't try to be the fastest guy in the group, just keep it smooth, listen to the Instructors and the speed will come. Best spot for dinner is at the Symphony restaurant at the Pahrump Winery, about 10 minutes from the track. If you want to get any food or drinks for the condo, there is a large grocery store right up the street. Take it easy on the drive over from Vegas and back, they do patrol out there, and they also know there is a racing school there. In short, good luck, and enjoy, it will be the best $1000 you ever spent on yourself.

Since you've been there before, perhaps you can answer my question. I purchased a new leftover 2016 Z06/Z07 in April of this year. Am I entitled to the discount offer or is only for current model year purchasers. Would love to go, but not going to pay full price, I'll use the money to join the Autobahn track in Joliet, IL near me.

You do get the discount. Just have to go before April 2019.
They sent me an e-mail with info on the class and it states "only first purchasers of new and unused 2016-2018 model year Stingray, Grand Sports, and Z06 Corvettes are eligible."

When you register for the Owner's School, you have to provide the VIN number, and they do check it against your info. As long as the car wasn't previously registered you're good to go, but you have to use it within 1 year of taking delivery. They will put you in a car like the one you own, Stingray A8 or M7:,Grand Sport A8 or M7, or ZO6 A8 or M7. The ZR1 class is not part of that, but available to ZR1 owners for no cost.

Thank you both for the information. I just assumed I would get something in the mail from Chevrolet about it. A few Corvette owner friends asked me when I was going and I didn't know anything about it until they told me and I saw on here. Trying to figure out when I can take time off of work to head out to it. Probably sometime in the fall, as we are in our 'busy time' at work. Thanks again guys!

My 2017 Z owner's manual bundle had a booklet with it on Spring Mountain school and the new owner offer. A month later after buying the Z from the dealer I received the Z poster and a thank you note from Corvette execs and that also mentioned the Spring Mountain owner's school offer.

As flying vette stated, you should have a Spring Mountain brochure enclosed in the packet with your Owner's Manual, if you don't have one, hit your Dealer up to get you one. Anyone taking delivery of ANY new Corvette is eligible for the Owner's School at Spring Mountain. If the Dealer can't or won't help, give Spring Mountain a call with your VIN#, they should be able to hook you up. The one to talk to there would probably be Donna, she's very good. You can register online also, but in your case maybe the call would be best, at some point they will need to talk to you anyway. For $1,000 and a flight to Vegas, you'll learn things about both your Corvette and your driving ability that you otherwise never would've discovered, and have a blast in the process driving someone else's car. Win-Win!!

I never did get any notice from Chevrolet about the school. But knowing about it I called Melanie in the sales office gave her my vin and faxed her my order sheet (she needs to check the actual vin on a document) and booked my visit. Do book early as they do fill up.

If you have a significant other make absolutely sure you take them with you. They can attend the classroom instruction and ride along with the instructors for no extra charge. They even took my wife for a couple of hot laps with an instructor. It was her Z06 but she let me have the course since she didn't think she'd be interested in driving on the track. After it was all over, I told her I wanted an SC757 and her only comment was that she wanted to drive the course this time and I should do the level 1 course........

you can also take any friend you like and it's the same deal, doesn't have to be a spouse.

Wifey is actually using her PTO at the hospital and looking after my shop for me so that I can go. That's love. But yea... I asked some buddies but all of their wives are pregnant and due anytime in July. Guess I gotta go solo. I'm trying to squeeze in some casino time before and after the 2 day class so I need to plan it out.

My wife went along before, and will be going again this time. We're flying into Vegas the day before and spending 3 days after the class, she wants to see a couple shows and have a few nice dinners, so that's the least I can do. Can't convince her to do a ride along though, she wants no part of that. One of the guys in my class the last time I went convinced his wife to take a ride with an instructor in a ZO6, when she got out after the ride, she just glared at hubby and said "I'm going to kill you", my wife keeps reminding me of that.

Just got back yesterday. Dress very cool and comfortable. It was 106. One of the automatic Z06's overheated (go figure) and hence shut down the air conditioner. The driver drove around short-shifting trying to cool it to no avail. He came back looking like he sat in a sweat box; which he was. The air conditioners in the car will keep the cars cool for the most part but do get shut down when power is needed. BTW, the program gets an A+. You'll love it.

Which model year was that Z?

I'm planning to go there in October, I need to get more comfortable with M7 for quicker shifting by then.

It was an automatic Z06. I'm not sure which year. I'm assuming a 2017. They do not keep those cars very long before swapping them out for newer ones. If you haven't heard, auto Z06's were/are notorious for overheating. There's a couple class action lawsuits going on right now.

The 2017 Z06 Manuals will shut off the A/C as well. I took the Level 2 class on the 15th and 16th of June and A/C shut off and oil temps were very high. One of the guys in my group was allowed to drive the new ZR1 and it had high oil temps as well. I was on the 2,4 mile North/South track with the bus stop and carousel.
