Have you seen the silver '55 on eBay?
Has anyone seen the add on eBay for a silver '55? The owner swears it is an original silver car, and supposedly Nolan Adams confirmed that GM did paint a '55 silver. I've never heard of silver being offered as a factory color option. Does anyone know about this? eBay item # 263735089446.

Considering I've blown my head off on my Harvest gold car, I kind of doubt it at the money that the seller wants. It would have to get a whole lot cheaper for me to be interested.

I know that car VERY well - it was restored a few years ago by a dear friend of mine (Werner Meier). It's VIN E54S002771, carries Styling S.O. data plates #2536 and 10028 (both dated 1955), and Werner has a 3"-thick ring binder full of the original GM Styling paperwork and photos documenting the modifications.
Styling did LOTS of things to modify production cars after they left St. Louis - cars so modified were assigned S.O. (Shop Order) numbers and S.O. data plates. The Corvette plant was NOT a hot-rod or custom shop - they built production cars to Engineering specifications and customer orders submitted by dealers, and the reality is that the plant had nothing whatsoever to do with whatever was done to those cars after they left St. Louis.

I believe that the car was originally white. Others may remember for sure. At one time I had a complete list of everything that was not 55 but it has been so long ago that I cannot find it. I will continue to look. Somebody could bring it back with enough money or enjoy it as it is.
