Default Thinking about selling the car

My dream car may have to go, but I wanted to get a couple opinions first on current prices. When I look at current prices, they seem to be barely down from last year for low mileage ZR's, are you finding that to be the case as well? Got a bone stock 2012 White with 3,900 miles (3Z, black headlight/blue stitch option), and might need to let it go for the capital I have tied up in it to start a new business venture. Also, outside of the corvetteforum and cargurus, any other sites you feel are essential to have it on for most exposure? Thanks!

I agree that they haven't shifted much over the last several months. Still plenty of vehicles advertised on Cars(dot)com and Autotrader. Or just auction it off on here...I'll start the bidding at $1.00

Just kidding...GLWS, and sorry you have to let it go. Sounds like a car that will sell quickly...

My fear is selling it and these ZR's turn into the Ford GT and start going up. Two different animals though, I know.

only way c6 zr1 goes up in value is if the all the c7 zr1s fail ie engine ect and ppl stop buying them or you wait 30+ years and have it in a climate controlled bubble with no miles. The car will bottom out sometime because of the great car it is but that will be around 25 -30k maybe a little higher for museum pieces.( my opinion of course). look at the GTR they have a boat load of miles, mass produced and bring 50+k because its a great platform, performance vehicle ect.

plus the GT has a great racing history, it is a revamp of the 60s that won Lemans and beat Ferrari, mid engine, design respects the prior GT.

I own a 14k mile 2010 zr1 1 of 220 with the options from factory. I bought it to enjoy and because it is a great bargain for the money.

sell the car if you need too but don't hold it as a inclining asset put the money in stocks if you want an increase haha

I found mine on dupontregistry.com.
Bone stock black 2011 with 12k miles, paid $54k last October, it came with newer Michelin pilot super sport zp's and a passport 9500ci radar detector.

Generally speaking, I agree with you 100%...but I literally saw this article yesterday. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/07/10/...car-investment

I know we're talking ZR1's, not classic German cars...but it was topical nonetheless.

If you decide to sell it, let me know. I've been tempted to get back into a Z again...if the wife will have me.

2012-2013 cars with low miles seem to be holding value pretty well. Revised interior, rarer color options, lower overall production. Higher mileage 2009-2010s seem to be going down.

I have a 2013 with more miles than that, but I do keep an eye on the market. Take good pictures and make a nice professional ad and you should be able to get $70-72k IMO.

I don't see them increasing in value any time in the near future. Maybe 30+ years down the road...

You asked about exposure so I will throw out Bring A Trailer and ebay. The traffic those get are incredible. Not going to get into pricing but will say be prepared to sit with it for a LONG time if you price it close to a new C7Z. Only you can decide what price you would let it go for right now vs how long you can sit with it holding out for more. If you need to move fast then try Give Me The Vin. They will give you better than trade in value and guarantee to beat a Carmax quote. GLWS!

Thanks for this Eric. I am not sure what a C7Z is going for. I never even looked at them while I was looking for my ZR1 because I couldn't fit in them, lol. 6'6" here. The car will go up for sale once I return from camping this weekend, likely Monday night. I hope i'm not sitting on it very long.... I am not trying to break records with pricing or anything. There's a win win somewhere in there for me and a buyer. What are you seeing for 2012 3z, bone stock, with less than 4,000 miles? Couple car covers, full documentation, M2W, full clear bra, etc? Thanks

Thank you. This is kind of what I have been seeing. Not sure what the cars are selling for, but I see last advertised price in the range you mentioned.

It might take a while but if your car is as clean as you say it is, then you should be able to get $70k for it. Everything depends on how badly you want or need to move it. Good luck.

Yep, that is the issue. I think it will take some time and a ton of exposure to get $70k personally. I wish you the best on it. However, if you need it to move quickly then you have to ask yourself if $65-68k would do it. Be prepared for a ton of low ballers and guys who say they have cash and then never respond back. Selling on the internet is SO much fun. Last car I sold I used Give Me the Vin and we had a deal that was better than NADA and Carmax by over $5k. Did not want the hassle of dealing with individuals and was not holding out for top dollar either. Time is money in my world.

3,900 miles?? Why didn't you drive it? I almost have that amount put on mine that I just bought a month ago. I just sold my '13 GS on cargurus (12 days: 3,438 views & 13 inquiries) I paid for autotrader ad, but only one response. Post some pictures not many ZR1's for sale maybe someone here will buy it. Do you have it registered? Update the registry if its not already. https://www.corvetteactioncenter.com...-zr1-registry/ I looked at the registry before buying my '09 #136. Whats the last four digits of your VIN? GLWS

62k+ start with eBay, then move into other venues, you’ll need patience, the right buyer will come along one day.
