Default 84 C4 to C6? Conversion questions.. Newbie

So I'm thinking of trading my 2008 Buell XB12XT for a 84 C4 Vette. It has a updated body and I'm curious to know what its worth roughly with about 124k on it. Stock motor, just a K&N he told me. Here are a few pics of it. He said the bottom is clean enough to eat off of. Cashwise he said he wants 4500 firm. But am trying to trade to save on the pocket. Let me know what you guys think!?

Somebody spent a bunch of $$$$ on that car and it didn't increase the value at all. I wouldn't want it

The updated body costs a lot so that’s what makes me think it’s a good deal. Just looking for some honest opinions.

The interior is a mess and the engine is not an 84
Don't think the car is an 84 either

So it has an l98 motor, meaning it's an 85 to 91. The body mods add no real value but it doesn't look terrible. Overall, seems like a fair trade, you go from a scooter or bike or whatever to a car, you're on the winning side of the trade.

I agree. The L98 from what I learned years ago is a far better motor than the L83. I don’t ride my bike much more. Just seeing opinions. Cruising said the interior is bad. I don’t see anything wrong with it besides normal wear and tear.

This is a fun "Find Waldo" game! How many unusual things can you find?

1. '84-'87 headlights.
2. '88-'96 Hood Prop Rod.
3. '86-'88 Master Cylinder.
4. No a/c.
5. No AIR (Smog) system.
6. '85 or later hood.
7. '86-'96 High Center Mount Brake Light (does it work?).

Sitting in the snow. Has it been exposed to salt ?

Yeah, there was an echo in here. The car is a unibody, that is next to if not impossible to fix if certain key areas have been rotted out.

There are both inside and outside pictures there. Was it stored inside, left outside ? The picture with the hood up shows it sitting on concrete.

Before you even think about it, you would need to look at it up on a lift. Along with what everyone else has said, that could be a losing proposal for you.

I think the fact that some radical changes were made would make me wonder what kind of shape was the car in beforehand? Accident? Owner had lots of money lying around? I would certainly check every switch, button, gauge, etc to make sure what does/doesn't work. And if its an 84 why the motor change? Or.....is it really an 84?

I will know more after looking at it. It came from Nevada where they have no salt. It has been kept out of the salt and in a barn during the winters. He took it out to move vehicles around he said.

I'd run from that car. I bought my '92 for $500 more than that thing you're looking at. It's been a fantastic car for 9 years now. I think you could do better.

So he bought a totaled C4 of some year not 84, rebuilt it with any C4 thru C5 parts he could get cheap and calls it an 84... Wonder what the vin # says. Look at all the paint over spray even on the headlights , $200 paint job LOL

That's an earlier L98. If the heads and block go together, it is either an 85 or early 86. It has cast iron heads. The latter half of 86 saw the shift to aluminum heads and center bolt valve covers. Also means it has a flat tappet cam, not hydraulic roller (started in 87).

That car would make me very nervous. If you want to spend $4500 you can do much better with just buying a straight up C4. Those body mods, while they probably were pretty costly, won't mean much in terms of resale. In a few years you will be able to pick up an actual C5 for not much more than $4500 when they hit rock bottom.

If you proceed, understand that you are going to have a hard time moving that car when it comes time to get rid of it.

Sure would make for some interesting Sunday afternoons trying to figure out where the pieces came from.

Crazy part is, it doesn't look awful...just had horrid wheel fitment. If you put a proper set of offset/widths that are aggressive, stanced the car proper, it might actually look half decent. Shame though...I liked my C4 just like it was but...people back in the day wanted to "update" just like you saw C6 headlight conversions on C5's. All looks like hell...just work with what you have and the car looks great as is. At least its cheap....
