Rear valence gaps
On my 66 the fit of the rear valence panel is poor. Panel is aftermarket as it is a side pipe conversion. Looking to improve the appearance without bodywork
previos owner had black weatherstrip. I tried red fender welt but not satisfied. Any suggestions?
I found some T shape "universal" weatherstrip in black. Maybe that will work.

I'd either leave it alone or put a bead of black strip caulk in there and maybe smooth it concave in the gap with a Popsicle stick or something. Its never gonna be pretty....

Gosh....dont think you can "adjust" that much of of gap/misfit. The welting doesnt work for me.....I think you either should just leave it alone or seek out some original units to see if that will improve things.....if not, and it still bothers you, time for a body shop. Here is a photo of the way mine fits. Good luck.

Even if you could shift it left, you'd then have a gap wider than a cow's behind on the right side then. Looks like you're grounded out on the bottoms of the fenders so how could you move it?
Something like this will hide it.

I think Mike could be right about part of the issue being the left fender - has it been replaced at some point? I would not waste money buying a new replacement - it may fit the same way. It will involve painting but if it were mine I would cut it with a Dremel from top to about 2 inches shy of the very bottom, about 1 inch off of the flange of the valance. Then grind the edges of the cut down and back (bevel them) about an inch. Then clamp the flange to the quarter panel in position - letting the cut form a deep V-gap. I think there is supposed to be a thin shim at the bottom bolt connection so shim it for about 1/16 inch gap all the way up when clamping to the flange on the fender. Tape the backside as a form and lay in three or four pieces of fiberglass mat and resin to bring the surface back to slightly above contour. You will need to extend the upper mounting flange over and you would do this after pulling it back off so as to not mess up the body paint. After pulling the valance, finish glass the outside and then fiberglass the back side, fill and block sand smooth and re-finish. The driver side doesn't look too bad but if your are going to have to refinish you might as well do both. This would make it fit probably better than the GM fit.
