Default Video First Drive in 25 yrs ** With Added Pictures **

3 years ago my son and I started working my 79 to get it back on the road after sitting for 25 years. This is the video of the it's first test drive shake down. My son was excited to be able to finally drive it for the first time. I'm not sure on attaching video? Only way I could get it to show was by using Drop Box.

Man, that 79 looks SWEET!!!! We need more details on the car, and more pics. To me (an admittedly biased 79 owner) yours has the look and the sound I'd love to have with mine.

Thank you, and yes great memories! I remember building my first car with my Dad when I was 16 (66 Mustang Convertible ). My son will be leaving in September for the U.S. Coast Guard. He has help a lot in this build so I wanted him to feel the excitement and thrill of accomplishing something that we worked so hard on. I still have a long ways to go but the first test drive after frame off was successful.

Thank you,
I lost a lot of my pictures when we first started the build but will post what I do have. I purchased this car from my Dads boss when I was 19. I drove it until I got married... then life began kids came and it sat in the garage for the next 25 years without moving. 3 years ago when I joined this forum you guys cost me a lot of money with great ideas and upgrades. I don't have (corvette owner money) so it has taken longer than expected to get it to this point.

Engine: 467 mild build engine (dyno a little over 500)
Fitech 600 EFI
Custom built Carbon Fiber air intake (Z06 filter in nose)
Trans: 700R4
Dewitts Radiator with dual Spal fans
Rear: 3.55 (tracdogg2 built)
Wheels: Pro-Built 18x9 front, 18x11 rear
Brakes: Wilwood front and back all new SS lines
Suspension: Performance Plus front mono, rear dual mount mono
Everything that connects to the frame is new

Body back on the frame after clean and paint

First mod... My Billet Specialties BB pulley system did not fit with front cross member.

I had to cut and weld in supports to make it stronger with the notch big enough to clear the pulley

Next was to sandblast all the parts I would reuse. Prime and paint

I couldn't put yellow shocks on this car. lol. So I sanded the yellow off and painted them to match my wilwood brakes.

Wired the car for the EFI, push button start, new window switches and a bunch of other modern electronics

Next was a long process mod. My son wanted the air intake like ZO6. So this was the first of "many" foam mock ups.

Final plug was made from foam and dry wall plaster. lol

Plug painted and wet sanded to 2000

Then I took the finished plug and made a 2 part fiberglass mold.

I did 4 layers of Carbon Fiber with High Temp resin and pulled a vacuum while curing.

I bonded the 2 halves together and cut the flanges off to come up with this.

New bracket for radiator support

Now because the filter was in the nose for cold fresh air the hood would not open normal. I had to come up with something that would let the hood open up and over the nose.

1st attempt did not work

Finally I was able to get the hood to open like I wanted and still function and line up correctly. I will make the final hood bracket out of steel angle but these mock up brackets give me something to go by for my final product
