Help needed re Corvette collection
Hello and thank you in advance for any direction you are able to provide.
I have been approached by a friend to assist with the sale of a small (5 cars) Corvette collection, 1963 split window, 1966, 1967, 1969 & 1971. I have seen the cars, they are very nice and a couple are extremely nice NCRS Top Flight so I am told.
I know very little and need some direction, I realize that any prospective purchaser be it a private individual or a collector will require specific details regarding these cars.
I need to know where I can locate the VIN, data plate, trim tags etc for each of these cars and also what other details should I be aware of as well as where to locate it?
Any help will be greatly appreciated, I have been researching various websites for this and decided to contact those in the know here on the forum.
Thanks again,
Regards,
Mike.

What is the location of the cars. And is your goal to help place a value on each car? Value had to based on a lot of little things and details. A few small incorrect items could swing the value by tens of thousands depindng on what it is. But for the 63,66,67 the vin and trim tags are located on a steel bar below the glove box. For the 69, and 71 the vin tag is on the windshield post on the drivers side and he trim tag is on the hinge pillar again on the drivers side

Sounds like a very nice collection. No offense to the OP, but I don’t think you are the Corvette expert your friend needs. I would highly recommend you find a real and reputable Corvette expert for appraisals and advice. Making poor decisions on these cars can cost your friend thousands of dollars.

A value for each car is required, the owner has an idea of the values and based on my research I am establishing market value as well. As we all know the market will determine what the value is, it will be the owners decision to accept or decline.
The information currently with the cars has been compiled by the owner over the past approximately 25 years during his ownership. This includes some service history, in some cases original factory documentation, NCRS Top Flight judging sheets, options list etc.
I need to photograph the VIN, data plates / trim tags as well as engine, transmission serial numbers to confirm matching numbers for any prospective buyer to include in the sales presentation.
Thanks again for your help,
Mike

@ warrenmj... agreed I am not a Corvette expert and the owner is aware of this but a proper presentation package is necessary to attract a buyer. I am a licensed dealer specializing in exotics for 34 years although I know my limitations and Corvette's is a different market. I have interest from several parties in the collection just need to provide accurate information.
@ Frankie the Fink... thank you for the suggestion.
I do appreciate all the guidance here,
Regards,
Mike

Also unless those NCRS judging awards are from the last five years and from regional of national meet they are useless. There has been so much more knowledge gained in the last few years that most older top flight cars would not get it again.

Useless? That’s a crazy statement to make. Yes, there have been changes but that doesn’t change the fact that the cars were some of The best in that time. That is an insult to make that statement about those cars.

since I started judging at chapter meets in the last ten years the judging guide have gotten twice as thick with whole lot more detail. Plus you don’t know if the said cars even have the same parts on them today that they did when judged so many cars after judging get the good parts removed and lesser repro parts installed

I highly doubt it would. As repro parts have gotten better as the years go by or less the car was never restored and still retains all the assembly line parts and finishes.

And you don't know, that may very well be the case. Don't assume the worst case scenario with comment that originally restored parts may have been removed/replaced, it casts doubt on the subject cars for people that don't read the entire thread.

While it's fair to say that any automotive certification award can be out of date over time, or the cars could have been altered since judged, the fact is the seller would be not doing his job if he did not describe the cars as " NCRS Top Flight Award winners." All cars are still subject to inspection, but casting any car for sale in its best possible light is the only way to sell them.

Although you may be a dealer in exotics, you are in way over your head when it comes to Corvettes as those who love the car are a crazy bunch with more arcane knowledge than you will ever amass. Follow the advice given here. You will help your friend the most by getting a knowledgeable adviser aboard.

[QUOTE=BrockZ06;1597614696]Thank you Nowhere Man, the cars are located in Niagara, Ontario Canada. The goal is to create a package on all the cars to solicit a purchaser. The cars will be sold individually, however, primary consideration will be given to a sale of the collection.
