I finally got some seats in my 57 today so I could take it for my first ride and I was impressed . After reading many statements about the C1's riding like a truck and steering like a truck I wasn't expecting what I felt . It rides better than my 72 and handles and steers great with the Steeroids steering kit . My wife wanted to go with me on the first ride and immediately commented how nice it rode . After all of the low points in restoring this car today was a high .

I definitely wanted the steeroids rack and pinion power steering so I could go with the smaller 15 inch steering wheel to make it easier to get in and out . I still just have enough room at the bottom of the 15 inch wheel to get in . Luckily I had experience getting into small cars . I used to own a MG Midget. ( Go Cart )

Yep , it was a journey sometimes . I just got the car in October and did a full restoration so it has been my life and I give a lot of credit to my wife for sacrificing her summer also . We would have normally been at all of the car cruises starting in May and she enjoys them as much as me . I'm going this morning to talk to the alignment guy . I hope that is not a problem because the Steeroids requires different alignment specs . I have the specs , it's just if he wants to do the job since they are not factory . Will see !

I've always thought the C3s ride worse than the earlier cars C1 or C2, mainly because of the thin poorly padded/sprung seats in them. Very harsh ride. I must say that the best riding was my 66 though. Less truckish than my 62.

The bad ride of the C3 originally (when new) was from the glass belted tires. Switching to radials can make a big difference.

It's not totally done yet . Just painted it last week . It still needs buffed and detailed . When it is done I would be happy to send some pictures if I can get some help with posting . I can do pictures on most sites but never have got this one down yet .

I agree with that . Bias tires were like riding on the steel rims . I am running red line radials .

I see what you are saying about the seats in the C3's because I commented that the ride was rougher in my 72 and the seat springs in the 57 are a lot softer .

Can't wait to see pics. When the seats are restored, many of the aftermarket foam is cut way too big and too thick. The original seat bottoms had a "bucket" pocket where your butt goes and gives an overall better comfort level and seat height. Aftermarket springs and foam have to be manipulated in order to create this pocket and if not done can make the seats and driver sit too high.

I did the same thing to my 62, the Steroids system is awesome. After 3 months I decided that with power steering I wanted better handling, Removed the Steroids and Had a C4 front suspension installed (my original suspension was badly worn) and I added a tremec 5 speed. Now it handles and rides similar to my C5. Still have most of the Steroids kit, if anyone is interested.

Yep, my 62 rides considerably better than my sons C-7 GS. He was very surprised how much fun it was to drive. The C-7 is on run flats and they're horrible. Hardest riding car I've ever driven. Power and technology are absolutely stunning, but who wants to drive around accelerating all the time. And since it hits the century mark in a heartbeat, it's a great way to lose your license. I'll take a nicer cruiser any day.
