Default 65 FI on Ebay

Saw this 1965 FI on Ebay. Asking price of $6500 does not seem unreasonable, if it is complete and not damaged, but the it also has a shipping charge.

$500 for shipping and handling.

Is this another way to increase the overall price of the unit?

Did you call the guy? HIs number is in the add.

I don't know that $6500 is a great price for the item shown, as there are lots of other very expensive parts needed to make a functional unit, and this one needs rebuilding.

But $500 for shipping is foolish. Maybe he's hand delivering it in coach class.

I did not call, I am not that interested. It just struck me as odd.

When you have a item such as this you can ask almost anything you want as there’s not to many out there for sale. His problem is it’s not complete missing the distubrutor and air cleaner. Without the distubrutor the unit is useles

Ebay will often add a shipping charge...........which is always high. If seller can ship for less, it is his profit. You can call seller on these purchases and "make an offer" on the item that will lower the shipping charge. I have done this before.

Not to say that isn't high for shipping, but the insurance on a $6500 part is probably $200.

Not enough pictures to show what is there, such as side and bottom views.
Absolute bare minimum expense for rebuild/restoration will START, repeat, START at $2500, plus an air cleaner, plus distributor.
When finished and ready to bolt onto an engine, the bottom line will START at $10K and go up from there.
No thanks.

There is / was another 63-65 FI unit on Ebay, asking price was $8900. I asked about it and seller did agree to a reduced price.

Then I checked the seller's other auctions. He had taken just about everything he could separate from the FI system, and put them in separate ads.

I added it all up; his asking price for all of the pieces was over $11K, and everything needed to be rebuilt.

Lot of ways to skin this cat.
