Default The bigger the lie..

A famous quote, by a famous person, went something like“If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.”

Note the attached photo of a 1970 Corvette engine, for a ZR1 convertible, currently listed on ebay

If you are going to lie about it, you might as well go big.

Oh yeah, the famous person who made that quote .... Adolf Hitler

I'm not real familiar with the old school cars, but you've got me curious. What set off your BS detector?

Note this difference in the VIN stamp between the restamped ebay engine (Top pic) and this factory stamped 70 block (Lower pic). The engine ID stamp and the VIN stamp will ALWAYS be different....which is not so on the ebay engine. It also appears that the restamped ebay engine has the ID and VIN numbers in reverse order too.

He is claiming it is one of 25 ever made. He is claiming that he has the original engine that PROVES the car is a ZR-1. He says he does not know if its been restamped or not. This car is not one of 25 ever made. The engine does not prove anything. And if Corvette people are looking at the car, he has to know that is an awful restamped engine. Also, earlier this year, someone on the forum posted about this guy's eBay ad. He knew the car before it was modified. I'm sure the seller knows the truth by now.

I DONT HAVE THE TANK STICKER ALL I HAVE IS THE ORIGINAL ENGINE THAT PROVES THE CAR IS A ZR1

A big block stamp is in reverse order from a small block. Assembly date first followed by VIN derivative for big blocks.

Thank you!

Those ebay block numbers couldn't have been stamped more *****-nilly either.

Oh I agree with you... But he did write that and I'm sure he did it so if someone bought it and complained he could point to the ad and say " I didn't know if it was real or not".

"The depth of their depravity sickens me" I am no expert, but that's the worst re stamp I have ever seen. He knows its bad, that's why his disclaimer is there.

Apparently this is quite a debate:

Wiki says the quote is misattributed to Goebbels:
  • If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself.
    • Attributed to Goebbels in Publications Relating to Various Aspects of Communism (1946), by United States Congress, House Committee on Un-American Activities, Issues 1-15, p. 19, no reliable source has been located, and this is probably simply a further variation of the Big Lie idea
    • Variants:
    • If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it.
    • If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.
    • If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.
    • If you repeat a lie long enough, it becomes truth.
    • If you repeat a lie many times, people are bound to start believing it.
      • Attributed in The Sack of Rome (2006) by Alexander Stille, p. 14, and also attributed in A World Without Walls: Freedom, Development, Free Trade and Global Governance (2003) by Mike Moore, p. 63

Some insist it’s Hitler.
