R12 freon fill up
Has anyone determined if the R12 for sale on ebay is the "real deal"? There appears to be many different sellers of the small 1lb cans, some looking dirty, rusted and old stock. Many ask you to sign a statement about using a licensed professional for installation or resale.
Any comments appreciated.

I purchased a can plus some sealer a year ago and it showed up as expected. I'm going to purchase another can or so to have on hand.

I must have bought about a dozen cans of R12 over the years with several buys. They are rusted and look old because they are and have been sitting for possibly 10 or 20 years. Just make sure they are R12 and not equivalent R12 or any phrase or such. I only had 1 half full can due to leakage and got a partial refund.
I am A/C certified but most don’t even ask for your card. Just look at the can and words in the ad and know what you're buying.

I bought several cans of R12 several years ago but decided to convert it over. I recall having to sign a waiver so seller would be protected from the government and those environmentalist that think the ozone layer has a hole in it. Now I have cans rusting away in the garage!

Just experienced this on my 89 and after one small can of sealer/lube and one normal can of R12, I have been a cool camper for two summers. GM's AC systems have always been purdy good to me.

Is the system empty? Did you have the system open to change parts? In either of these cases you need to run a vacuum pump on the system evacuate the air out of the system and or find the leak. If it is still charged but just low you can just add R12 untill the compressor runs steady. Sometimes it helps to jump the low pressure switch to run the compressor while adding some refrigerant.
