Tier pressure
My tier pressure sensor kept coming on saying the pressure was low in my tiers.28 pounds (Front Tiers) My mechanic said the front tiers said 50 pounds and inflated them to that. I thought that was high but he said that was the right pressure. now of course the light came on saying the pressure is to high at 50 Anyone know what it should be for a c5? frot tiers. the back are only 30 pounds.

9 months out of the year (AZ) I run 29, and they get to 33-34 after a couple miles.
The other 3 months I go 32, and they warm to 33-34....maybe.

Assuming you are running standard ratio (not low profile) tires, then cold pressure should not be more than about 30psi.
Low pressure warning comes on at 24 psi.

Nobody else mentioned this... but you need a new mechanic IMO. Maximum tire pressure on the tire is maximum. Never seen a passenger car that required 50PSI

I was thinking the same thing. At 50 psi it would almost have been like riding on solid rubber tires.

I would hope your car was throwing "Tire Pressure Too High" because that is crazy.... My car gave me "High Tire Pressure" when they got to 39 PSI on a road trip in 105 temps

Surely 50# was the maximum, maximum, never inflate more than, pressure! Agree with JR-01; that had to be a rough ride and poor handling, too.

Your mechanic is a buffoon. The sticker on the door jamb says 30 psi cold - use that as a guide.

Okay I'm going to chime in.....the door jam sticker says "30psi" which is a target setting for the OEM tires which are run flats with stiff sidewalls. Most of us have changed our worn-out OEM tires with non-run flats so the standard setting will change, I would think?
That said 30psi seems low for non-run flats, thinking they would need a little more air to compensate for the sidewall difference, thoughts?
