'77. TH350 and stick shift frames different?
Hello all.
I am working on a '77e that came with a l48/TH350. A year or 2 ago I picked up a great '76 frame from a member here who had to give up on his project. It is a stick shift frame. I installed the American Powertrain flanges to make the Crossmember removable.
Well today I layed the motor/trans in and the trans mount is a few inches BACK from where it needs to be for the TH350. I can find dimensions on the auto's just fine but can't seem to find them on the T10 4speed to see how much different.
My theory is the T10 puts the mount where it needs to be for a TH400 and all I have to do is get a TH400. My worry is that the stickshift cars put their mounts at a location that doesn't match up at all with autos.
So do TH400's and T10's swap with out moving the trans mount location?

interesting.....why not tap the frame and move it to where you need it to be?
I had a 77 and swapped the th350 for a 700r4 and used the bow tie over drive cross member, I don't see why you cant just move the cross member or the trans mount assuming you have welding capabilites

I have to get another TH350 anyways so going to a 400 is not that big of a deal.
I just want to make sure this is what is going on before I commit to the TH400 (or maybe 200r4).

Don't you have to use the adapter plate for 4 speeds and 350's such as this pic shows?
