Looking at this, apart from the obvious things of interest, I must say that you are a better man than I... to be installing the engine with the entirety of your car totally unprotected.

What am I looking at, other than the anxiety from having the entire motor pulled and worrying not everything goes back exactly the same. I always wondered, how do you know where to route all the piping/electrical cables after you pull the motor? Service manual?

The key to making sure everything goes back the same way is being meticulous and documenting every bolt along the way. Then its easy..

Well, I’ve had a Mantic Twin in there the last 3500 miles or so. I’m being cheap and don’t want to upgrade to a triple but I may not have a choice at my planned power level.

I needed to tap the pan for the YSI oil return line. So I took the pan off. When it was off I found two piston oil squirter nozzles broken off and sitting in the pan. The VR pistons apparently require the nozzles be “massaged” but there is no mention of it anywhere and when I called VR they said they never have to move them at all. Since i’m in here, I figure I will do rods and lower the compression so I can turn up the boost..

Which pistons and rods are you doing now ? or is it just rods... more boost is always fun I wanna take mine out and do new cam/rods/pistons.

As for squirters i did bring this up in your previous POST >>> https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1595966778
Didnt know they would break. Maybe add it to your HOWTO.. i just used a 17mm open wrench to give them a little bit of love

You certainly did sir. At the time I didn’t have clearance issues on turning the engine over on the engine stand. It appears they only touch when everything is heated up to operating temp and the pistons are actually moving at speed. Only 3 of the 8 squirters broke off. I’m not too happy about it but oh well. Going fast ain’t cheap. So, when this all happened one of the squirters bounced around the rotating assembly and marred up 2 cam lobes and there are nicks in the bottoms of a few pistons. The piston marks obviously are just cosmetic As no contact surfaces were touched on the pistons.

Now I am stepping up to a Stage 3 VR cam, with stock crank, Callies Ultra I beam rods, and Wiseco 10.5:1 pistons (dropping the CR from the current 11.7:1 VR drop in pistons). I am planning to sell the VR dropin pistons and rods (possibly the current crank as well) if anyone is interested. Already have the new cam here as well as a new set of Comp Cams 850 lifters. Wil be ordering some gaskets and such today. Will be doing cam bearings this time around as well.

Like that idea for bolt origination. I got me lots of 1 gallon and quart zip lock slider backs and magic marker. Those bolts that placement doesn't matter. Like the way you think!

Don’t jump to conclusions, I’m pretty sure it makes for a better pic without the covers or plastic wrap. Once the wrenching is done and the engine is out who needs covers I will also add that not everyone constantly fumbles tools or parts

I am well beyond meticulous and organized and don’t damage things when I work on them.

Just busting his *****...talk about exposed here is my car at the moment in my yard...just got the exhaust pan out, x-pipe out, factory headers (had to heat those bolts with my oxy/cety torch damn!), and almost done removing front bumper. It's all good just gear head fun...

Do the LT Motors have the same rocker arm setup as the LS series motors? An if so are you going to be doing a trunnion upgrade or is it already done and if so which route did you go Bronze style bushings or needle bushings?
