Default Added headlight “eyelids” on the cheap.

Added headlight “eyelids” on the cheap.
Never was sure whether I really liked the eyelids, especially when the commercial vendor priceswere around $100.
So after adding a roof stripe to extend my stinger stripe,
here:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c7-general-discussion/4161666-added-roof-stripe-to-extend-stinger.html
I decided to try my hand on the eyelids. The cost was about $14.00 for the vinyl, so figured if I didn’t like it or got tired of it there was no large loss.I’m pleased with the outcome and will keep them on for a while.

I think it looks better on a Ferrari with no panel gap....like this weak photoshop attempt....

But I can appreciate your craftsmanship. Well done.

Which vinyl did you go with? How's the match to the silver?

I used "3M 1080 G120 GLOSS WHITE ALUMINUM "
Very good match. In sunlight very hard to see any difference.

I hope the match is OK down the road. Silver is a tough color to match, especially with the angle of the metallic flakes not matching the factory angle.

I agree with you about the gap/seam... but if you're over 20 ft. from the car, and especially just driving
down the road... the gap won't be noticed. I have helped two other C7 owners I've met at car meets wanting the
steps and equipment needed to make their own.

I like!

Actually, I tried to do it myself but I was scared to take an exact o-knife and tried to cut out the shape based on a template. It ok from 10 feet way. I would like to try again. Other than skill and practice, which I have no desire to do on the car, how do you avoid accidentally cutting into the car when you trim the material?

I like it. It's a subtle change, that doesn't permanently change the car.

He's using knifeless cutting tape... no razor blades required. Example below, many different sources.

looks good but I've never been a big fan of the eyelid look. like the color matching on your z06 grill more. Did you do vinyl there as well or paint?

Yes, used knifeless tape along the headlamp (see first picture
at top, green line is the knifeless tape,
The video advertises a "start stick" which I didn't use and isn't necessary.)

and used a razor knife carefully along the seam
between the headlight and the body panel ...plenty of room to cut.
The brake ducts were painted "aluminum" Plasti-dip. I wasn't trying to
match the body color, wanted a more metal look for the ducts.
And by using Plasti-dip if I didn't like it I could easly remove.
That was almost 4 years ago and still no problem with the dip.
Pic below taken after knifeless tape cut has been made.
