Default Door Dogs

Now offered in all Black.
Put them on my Shark Gray and accent the Carbon Flash parts on the car.
Certainly not hard opening the door without them, but every once in a while it would catch in the half latched position.
Really like the way they work now, much smoother and always on the first try
Flame on

The debate of whether Door Dogs are necessary is quite silly. It's a product already on the market. The creator is looking for input on designs that will persuade those already interested in the product for it's practicality, but are discouraged by its current aesthetics.

If you don't think you need Door Dogs, there's no reason to disuade others. Just because Chevy didn't intend for there to be physical articulating door handles doesn't mean they don't belong there. That's the beauty of owning our own cars. We get to customize them the way we want. If not, there wouldn't be an "after-market" market. There wouldn't be different options for intakes, exhausts, tint, etc. But there are. And if we see something that may suit our likes, then it is our perogative to do so. Or not.

I have them and love them, and used mine on two C7s now. I use my car for both commuting and errands and am in and out a lot.

To those who have never tried them, it may seem silly, but when your hands are full it's much easier to open the door with your one free finger, and in black, I never notice they are there. Yeah, it's no big deal to reach in and use the touch pad, but the Sandy Eggo Door Dogs are just one of those little changes that make everyday life a wee bit easier.

When my car is in for routine service, service writers and mechanics frequently comment about what a great idea they are. I've had 3 different Chevy dealers so far ask where they can be purchased.

By default, the handles are powder-coated satin black. We are now offering to paint the handles other colors, including gloss black.

I looked at them and they seem like a neat idea and generally well executed. However, I don't like how they mount. I don't like the lack of "triangulation" with there being only the two screws.

They are soild. The only way they are coming off is if the door handle comes off. Triangulation is NOT an issue with this installation.

The Door Dog attaches using the existing screws which provide more than adequate anchoring. During use, forces are directed to broad, flat areas made of 18ga steel with gusseted bends. Those flat areas disperse force evenly and consistently.

After two years of daily use on my C7, no mechanical or cosmetic issues have been experienced. I am very confident the Door Dog will operate properly and without incident for the life of the car.

Best regards,
Dave

This is not a factory stock original part so it will not be allowed on my Corvette but for those who like them!

My question is does it make the door easier to open. My wife has a hard time using the OEM pad.

Absolutely. That's its claim to fame. The handle is more accessible and it provides leverage against the button. Also, it provides a more common 'feel'...similar to other car doors. That makes it easier and more intuitive for most people.
I tell you what, if you try it and she doesn't like it you can send it back for a full refund.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Kevin. I have a question. Is it the entire apparatus you don't like the looks of, or is it the handle as seen from the outside?

I have a reason for asking because I'm considering a design for a new handle. If this would be more acceptable to users then I will likely invest into production of it.

Here's a rendering. These are CAD/Photoshop images, so try to ignore the color mismatches...
