Supercharger lid sound dampening?
I was over looking around the ZL1 forums on Camaro 6 and there were a few threads about a black piece inside their supercharger lids that appeared to be just for sound dampening purposes. However, I searched the forums here and haven’t seen any mention of it here. Are there lids on the ZL1 perhaps a little different than the Z06? I have read other “increase whine” threads here as well and don’t remember any talk about the lids.
Still would love to make this thing scream. I came from a 03 cobra with a 2.2 Kenne Bell which was the blower notorious for screaming. Hopefully, the smaller upper and porting the blower/snout will increase the whine?!

I think the main reason the Z06 supercharger is so quiet is that the intake air is drawn from the inside of the fender well, and that muffles the sound coming from the intake pretty well. The Z06 blower probably has more rotor twist than your Kenne Bell blower too, and that tends to smooth air flow and create less pulsing, making things quieter.
The Chrysler blowers are quite a bit louder, but their intakes go directly to the front of the car, or through the hood opening, rather than the inside of the fender well.

I've removed everything they've claimd and all together it made almost no difference. I'd like some SC sound as well, but I've not heard it from this blower. I guess they did a GREAT job on NVH!

Removing it could change air flow characteristics inside the S/C. Those changes may not be beneficial. The piece may be there to smooth/direct air flow as it twists through the S/C.

I have an AFE intake and going to be getting a 103 TB, 2.31 upper, and Kong porting soon. Can I please get a side of blower whine too? Hoping I hear an increase after this!

Ahh good point, didn’t think about that aspect.
Lol right, I’m like next time can we have a poll on who wanted the blower to be quieter.

(Yes, I've already sorted out blower noise from dyno noise.)
So what are these videos supposed to demonstrate?

My conclusion from these videos is that a microphone placed near the front of the car, with the hood open, will pick up quite a bit of blower noise. But when placed more toward the rear of the car, almost no blower noise will be heard.

Are you able to explain why? When I mod my vehicles, my fisrt choice is to work with people who can provide solid explanations. Same thing in my "small business", and that strategy has worked out so far. Not that I can't buy things at wholesale (or below, even for things I don't "carry"), and pretend that I am offering someone an exceptional deal.
