I agree with the Op that GM is smart enough to keep the pricing ladder with consistent increases of the generations. If they doubt or decide to change this, I would hope that they look over and see what Dodge did with the Viper pricing and killed it.
Two Vettes in the garage now and looking forward to number three (C8).

Think this will depend if it's going to be a one car lineup or two. If it's a two car lineup GM will need to leave room for new FE car pricing before the ME is due for a next gen. Going to be interesting to see what the play is from GM.

It will be more expensive than an MSRP of $63,000, which is less than the current Stingray 1LT Z51 A8 starts at ($63,315), which is what the base ME will be equal to if we are to believe there will be no manual transmission. A better bet is that it starts at just under $70k - $68,895 + $1,095 freight = $69,990.

It's not a radical theory, in fact it's a couple of grand high.

What do I know, but here goes. I actually think that MSRP $63,000 (w/o dest) could be a good number for a bare bottom 1LT Coupe without Auto (+$1,500?). Same as a 2LT, ~$67,000, 3LT, ~ $73,000, and maybe a 4LT, ~$79,000. As to packages such as Z51, premium paint, trans top, folding HT Vert (Spyder), etc. it only goes up from there to close to $100,000 WITHOUT a GS or Z06 equivalent I would expect comes later (6mos to a 1 year).
I played this game twice before but not again. I have my C7 to keep me warm and fuzzy until Spring. Or until Dec 31, 2019, say around 6pm with check book in hand to a Chevy Dealer with inventory to move.

The past is a good indication of the future.
I will be looking to purchase a 2nd year Z06 hopefully and keep my current C7...

While participating in an Open Track Day this past weekend in southeast Michigan a GM engineer told me the price of the base C8 will be around $60K. When the Z06 and ZR1 versions come out with higher horsepower they will of course have higher prices. The C8 will eventually replace the front engine car however it will take a few years. I asked why no manual trans since 25% of Vettes sold are manuals. I was told that used to be the case however over the past few years only 2-3% of Vettes sold are manuals. That was a big surprise to me.

That said, I'm not sure any of us can whine enough to make a difference in this DCT vs. manual debate. GM is going to do, what they are going to do. And it really comes down to economics I'm sure.
Here's hoping for a manual, but I'm starting to lose the faith that it'll happen honestly.

I really hope people really stretch for this car they can't afford, so they sell their c7's cheap, so the c6 guys can stretch and buy the used c7's, so then I can buy a c6 for less!!

I have no idea but the new TOP ME car seems will be higher than anyone is thinking. Even the regular ME as well. Maybe the FE goes and the ME is new HALO car is and pretty pricey!

And here is probably the bad news. With allocations such as they will be and to recoupe loses from unsold C7 inventory as far back as 2017 I expect most Chevy Dealers will want to order MEs for inventory or insist on customer orders that both are way above bare bones 1LTs. Even BG may pluck the higher end build spec cars to build first, at least until the panic demand subsides (sans constraints). As to above MSRP gouging, it will happen, if you let it. Many dealers I feel will hold to MSRP but the search for your dream will be stressful without a premium applied.

I will sell my base 07 for the new ME if it's at around 60k, I would rather have a base ME at 60ish than a new c7 z51 and maybe even the zo6. Most will buy the cooler looking car over higher HP. Sales of new C7's will be next to nothing if they offer the ME at around 60k.
