Competition seats-where to buy?
Is it possible to buy competition seats from the factory and if so how much does it cost? I keep finding perfect Z06 with Z07 Packages with the colors that I want used at good prices but the only thing missing is the seats....

Yes, you can buy the Competition Seat backs from GM parts departments. Trunk Monkey (a supporting vendor) has them for $1,825 for both with seat heaters ($1,710 without).

Well yes and no... Trunk Monkey has a CONVERSION kit. That isn't the same as a seat. WIth the kit you replace a lot of the parts of the seat back, but the bottom is not touched, and is not the same as a comp seat. I'm sure you could buy the entire seat from Chevy, (or a wrecked car) but at what cost?

I've done a bunch of research on this as I initially wanted the comp seats but couldn't find any cars with the build that I wanted with them. The seat bottoms are identical so the comp seat conversion kit is the best way to convert over. With that said I didn't do the conversion for a couple reasons. First after driving a car with comp seats at the track I didn't feel like the $2k gave me $2k's worth of extra hold and being very tall the harness holes are too low to use a harness properly for me. So $2k will get me pretty far down the after market seat road although the car is still too new for me to bring myself to do that just yet. If your just going for looks though then comp seat conversion kit is the way to go.

We are probably at a point now in the C7 series life where you could possibly source them from an auto recycler. I don't have the link --- but am certain that there exists an online registry of parts held in inventory that could be searched for those that meet your needs.
Might be fun and a whole lot cheaper to investigate.

The comp seat bottoms are different, they have a higher density foam, and the seat cover looks a little different. The shape of the cushion is the same as the GT seat.

They were not a common option to begin with, so finding a complete set is going to be very difficult and expensive.

You can, but the passenger lower seat foam is really expensive. Over $400 last time I checked. It's because that seat includes the passenger presence sensor. It's not possible to buy the foam without it. If it wasn't for that, it'd be possible to do the full conversion for under two grand.

Someone in the aftermarket community needs to make an aftermarket seat that is plug and play and is styled like the C7 Competition Seats! That $2-$3k pricetag is too rich for a lot of peoples blood IF you can find a pair.

No! You would need to remove your seats, buy the seat back conversion kit and install. Many threads on it but here is the most extensive: I am post #130 after completing mine!

I got a quote from an upholstry shop that it would be like $400 to do the conversion. Seems like money well spent considering i would rip or break something doing this myself, then I'd curse, probably cut myself on something stupid, curse so more, throw something, and then 48 hours later be left with no seat, scars, and world record for curse words in a 48 hour period. Rather go to a professional and pick up my car fully done.

Actually, it wasn't as bad as it seems if you are halfway handy.
Most upholstery shops I checked into had no clue of what to do and those that I provided the instructions wanted some ridiculous price to do. If you have a shop that will do them for $400, I think that is fair considering the amount of hours you might put into doing it. Whoever does it, the seats needs to be removed to do them.
