Default SWC Interior Trim Question

I have seen a few SWC's that have chrome trim on the interior around the windshield header and the door openings. The one that I looked at in Bastrop, Texas had the trim. There is also a 63 on Craigslist in Los Angeles that has now appeared on Ebay that has the same trim and even has it around the rear windows (on the interior). Was that a factory option or is that just something that someone did to those cars.

No it was never a option. The inside trim was always interior color

Some of that is a one year only deal, like the stainless trim piece on the doors in the front outside area....

As stated all the interior garnish moldings are painted. The exterior reveal moldings are all stainless steel.

For the '63 red interior there are three paint codes that I'll call low, medium, and high gloss. As far as I can tell the only different is gloss... all are the same shade.

The lower windshield garnish molding is low gloss, side and top garnish moldings are high gloss. The halo panel is medium gloss and I believe the backlights garnish moldings are also medium gloss.

I don't have paint codes for the other interior colors, but I expect they followed the same pattern.

My original post was wrong. My apologies to Duke. SWCDuke is 100% correct.

Is it this car. It will probably sell for around 70K. People will give 70K for junk but when you ask 95/100K for a real nice one they have a heart attack.

From what I have seen most of the junk is better than the "correct" cars because with the junk at least you know its junk when you start.

You have to know what you’re looking at or you can get sheared like a sheep, be it junk or a supposed diamond.

Midyear Corvette knowledge is an arcane field - and then if one's interests tends towards split window coupes the knowledge becomes nearly mysticism. You can't even completely trust the NCRS Judging Guides (dozens of inaccuracies even in the latest one 63/64 guide)....

There are only a handful of experts here that I implicitly trust with the more esoteric SWC information such as Critter1, W Guy, Rich Yanulis and a few others...along with members on the NCRS site I know personally.

I don't think I'll ever know it all....just the other day I found out that 63 A/C cars (which are a tiny fraction of the full production) have a different dual snorkel air cleaner base than the non-A/C cars. Another bit of trivia to file away in my aging memory banks...

Like I said, the Ditzler paint code books back in the seventies showed THREE interior paint codes for red interiors, and the only difference I could tell when I used them was the gloss level.

My 64 coupe has stainless trim for the inside WS , it is painted over though. I was going to strip it and polish it for a different look.

I’m doing a 64 hardtop at present and at least 4 pieces of trim are unpolished stainless and the rest mild steel. All was and will be painted.

The metal interior trim in my SWC has the original red paint and it's all one shade, unbuffed.

I think that’s right. My 63 got hit in regional Judging for this and the scorer stated what you and Mike C. have said.
