C7 new purchase, how bad will the C8 effect the C7 price?
I just bought a 2018 Z51. It was brand new. It is not a daily driver. I plan on trading it in in 2021 on a C8. Question is how bad of a hit will I take? I can search Autotrader and see what 2015 C7s sell for with the approximate mileage I plan to put on my vehicle. Will this pricing hold true with the release of the C8?
How bad did the release of the C7 effect you guys that had 2013 C6s.. Im kicking myself that I might have bought a vehicle one year to soon..
(threads are better with pics.. so here it is!)
Thanks for the input.

No way to predict what your 3 year old car will be worth in 2021. Figure about 50% of MSRP. The C8 might actually help C7 values. Many don't want a ME car.

50% is what I was figuring.. I realize its a crap shoot. Just wondering what the C6 guys experienced when the C7 came out.

The C8 might not be for everyone. I know the C7 has it's very own look and I really like it. The C8 looks just like every other mid engine car and I'm not sure I like it more. Another thing is if they don't offer a manual trans I may not want it. I will be taking my C7 golfing and I know it will hold two sets of clubs in the back for my wife and I. Will the C8 with the little front trunk hold two sets of clubs? That would be a deal breaker for me. I'm hoping the C7 will still be available along with the C8.

Im probably overthinking things. Just turned 38 and always wanted a sports car. I researched every sports car in my price range and chose the vette for two reasons.. performance and value. Was not aware the C8 was right around the corner when I bought it. I generally don't like to purchase vehicles in their last year of the body style. I do love it though. Ive had more fun than I deserve driving it.
Its not really around the corner or I would be scolding you its about 2 years away - thats quite a bit of time - wish I was 38 C8 would be in my future at 56 not sure about that now

You think its 2 years away? I think we will see the production model of the C8 this time next year. But who knows for sure.

Who knows at this point; way too many variables to say and I'd question anyone who says they "know" otherwise at this time.

Enjoy your new C7 and don't worry about the hit you will take when/if you still want an C8 (when they do come out).
C7s will still be popular with many and will be sold along side C8 for an undermined amount of time.

Pricewise there would be heavy dealer markups in the first couple of years that could stabilize used C7 prices until they start discounting C8s maybe in the second/third year of production.

I can see you losing at least $10,000.00 to $15,000.00 by buying the '18 C7, only to trade it on a new C8.
