Maybe someone should tell the rattlesnakes, scorpions and spiders to beware of very fast vehicles that eat bugs and critters all day long.
BTW, water moccasins, copperheads, brown recluse and black widows have learned to fear me here in the deep south.

So... it was just below 100 degrees the last two days at Spring Mountain. Perfect weather.
The ZR1's performed beautifully. A couple of us have track experience and were lapping at some very respectable speeds... pushing the cars and tires fairly hard. I was pleased to see NO HEATING ISSUES... period. Having said that, I will confirm that during the course, the cars are "managed" to some degree but requiring the students to short shift (under 6,000 RPM) and to paddle shift the autos. Other than that we did some fairly hard 25 to 30 minute sessions, with VERY LITTLE slowdown on the backstraight to swap driver positions for the lead follow sessions. The instructor right seat session there was no slowdown other than to pass other cars.
Had a long talk to several of the instructors and they confirmed that the staff had spent quite a bit of time driving the ZR1's when they got them and TRYING to get them to overheat... but were unable to do so. As a previous Z06 owner who had endless heat related issues with my Z06 I was very happy to hear all of this. I had tried to overheat my ZR1 back home during my track days but our ambient temps only get up to the mid to high 80's... so driving the past 2 days in 95-100 degree weather was further confirmation for me.
Also, one of the other track guys on the course regularly drives his ZR1 in 100 + weather and has had no issue either, though he did say that in really high temps he found the Auto would have an issue with transmission temps if left in "D" for a long session... but only at temps over 100 degrees... he had no issues on days in the 80's or even 90's.
I'll also add.... for those who have taken previous COS courses at Spring Mountain, this ZR1 course is NOT just the same COS stuff... there is a minor amount of repetition from previous COS courses but mostly this ZR1 course is different and ramped up... speeds are definitely faster... more track time... overall a nice update.

LOL LOL LOL I won't be able to handle all those BAW's in one spot. Thanks all for the info etc, I have to look at my travel schedule and where there are openings at SM.

I probably won't actually get into my vehicle until December. There are some track events throughout the winter here in the SE so I would like to partake of the school before getting this one on the track. I have very limited aero on my C5Z and really need to get a good feel for the ZR1 before I try to do it justice. Question: What is the usual weather in winter there?
