Hi,
I wanted to bench test my old wiper motor before putting it on the car, so I hooked up 12v to middle lead and grounded the case and top lead (fast speed) and all the motor does is click. I also tried to ground the lower terminal (slow speed) and still just clicks. Is this motor bad ?
Just asking to make sure... did you make sure you grounded the case?
I did, I hooked a clip to the case and clipped it to the same lead that was grounding the high-speed pin which went back to the battery negative terminal. I just clipped on the case(see the black clip on the case in my first pic), I assumed any part of the case is good, am I correct ?
I just didn't understand what would just cause it to click, I expected it not do anything at all or work, but not to just click...

The click is the parking relay moving. Good luck finding a motor that will work for more than 6 months. I'm on my second one and am looking at alternatives to buying crappy Chinese junk motors that are sold today. I can't afford $100 every 6 months to have reliable wipers. My car is my daily driver right not so I need reliable wipers.
Another thing, does your power supply have enough current to turn the motor? I use my car's battery for my 12v source even though I have a 12V power supply on my bench but it only puts out an amp. I don't think that is enough to get the motor started.

I also sell rebuilt originals if you'd like to try one of them instead of the LL reproduction.
And you are correct, most smaller power supplies don't have the amperage to run these motors, so for the home repairs it's simpler to just use the voltage from the car itself.

I stopped rebuilding them myself years ago, but I've got a company that we send them cores and they take care of us.
Then when you buy one you receive it, send in the original core and It keeps the cost down. It's cheaper for me to do this than to take the time myself and rebuild them... but they have a great track record with us too.

thanks for for the info on the parking relay. Yes, I was using my car battery for the source. I think i will go the rebuild route also if Wilcox had a rebuilt one for a 1980.
