Default EFI Fuel Tank

Since I now have a F.A.S.T. EFI on my 1966 with zz502 it was recommended that I also should upgrade my tank to an EFI version. Can anyone give me a rundown on install tips? Such as removing my existing tank? What I currently have; original style tank with external electric fuel pump and want to install the EFI style tank with internal pump, no spare tire carrier and side exhaust. Is there a good vendor that sells everything in a package for this conversion?

I went with a Tanks Inc fuel tank with in tank pump and fuel sender that works with a C2 gauge and I think it was +$600. Summit sells their stuff so I was able to use a 10% coupon to bring the cost down a little more. All you need to do is run power to the pump and plumb your fuel lines. I think Holley sells their tank for there EFI systems now.

I saw the Tanks Inc. when I was searching Google. Appears to be an all inclusive kit. I already have an inline pump at the rear of the car and a return line so that will make it easier. I'll look into it a little further.
Rustman, how did you snag a 10% off coupon at Summit?

Default Tanks

These tanks go on sale occasionally and can be bought at 25% or more off list price. I got mine from Jegs and it was also shipped free.

I think I got it on the invoice from a previous purchase, but Summit (and Jegs) have sales from time to time

You also have to be careful plumbing the lines to the tank on C2s, at least with the Tanks Inc tank. There was no room for me between the tank and the body to take the line forward like in the above picture. I ran flexible lines reward and to the right to where the original fuel line was.

Why do you need a special tank for a Fast Injection system? Can you just run am internal pump in the standard tank?

I don't think you absolutely need a special tank for EFI, but I was needing a new tank so I opted for this one. As a plus it comes with baffles and a pan to allow for gas to stay around the pump pick while cornering and such. I know others have installed intake on their old tanks.

Absolutely! A special tank is nearly a requirement for some cars with shallow tanks with minimal-to-no baffling.. like those offered for my '67 Chevelle. They have a special fuel pump "cavity" or baffled fuel tray to reduce cavitation due to fuel slosh, tank shape, and low fuel conditions. Significant advantages over dropping an electric pump into a stock tank...

Default Bottom mount.....

Has anyone seen or used an in tank EFI pump mounted in the bottom of the tank pointed up? There seems to be very limited room on the top of the tank to body.

I probably should have been more clear. I have a C2 and have a new tank (never had gas in it) stock with vent I plan to use for the return. I am looking for something to mount in the bottom pointed up like the stock setup but of course I have to keep it for the sending unit. Trying to avoid having to buy another tank. Don't mind drilling this one because it has never had gas in it yet. Thx

Default Easy.......

Taking a C2 or C3 tank is pretty straight forward after you get around the mufflers. Take filler neck off before dropping tank for extra clearance to top compartment. This is for roadster I have not done a coupe.

I sent a new tank like you have to Rock Valley. They installed a pump into it and surrounded the pump with a cylindrical baffle to minimize fuel slosh and possible starvation in the case of 1/4 tank and lots of curves. The pump was mounted from the top down. If it needed service/replacement the tank had to come down. I ran a redundant external pump in case of a failure on the road. Switched power between internal and external pumps monthly. Car ran the same on either one.

I am still looking to purchase the Tanks Inc. kit but it will come down to who has the better deal. I also need to figure out which in tank pump to get. I have a zz502 (502 hp), pump pressure at 42 psi and high output alternator. When I get around to doing this the only thing that I don’t know about is removing the filler neck before taking out the tank.
