Default Seat recommendations for C1 RestoMod

I have a 62 restomod with stock seats. I am looking to upgrade to something more comfortable yet maintaining a look that matches the era. Anyone have any suggestions on where to start and or your own experience with a particular seat? Thank you

I love the stock seats in my '61...they are surprisingly comfortable. I am 5-9 and 180 pounds....I suspect if you are a big or tall guy you might have different needs. IMO, the interiors of these early cars are as cool as it gets, look-wise.

Don't know exactly what you mean by "a look that matches the era", but I have C4 seats in my wife's 62. Very comfortable and inexpensive (if you don't count labor). Seat backs fold forward so you can use the soft top area for storage providing that you have the soft top removed, which I do since we run a hardtop all the time.

Al Knock sells some really nice custom seats for the C-1's . I looked at them at Carlisle and almost bought a set , now I regret not doing so. They look like a period correct custom seat, I was drooling on them.

The Al Knoch seats are called "AOK" seats. They are modified seats manufactured by Wise Guys. They "fit" the openings around the sides just like the original seats, but are modern frames, with a tilt back. Al can cover them in a similar pattern to the originals. Go to his website, and you'll find some pictures. I've used these in a lot of cars, and they are really nice.

The first set of seats are original 61 seats, that I had Al Knoch recontour and cover for a customer about 10 years ago. The second and third cars were built by the same shop as the first car, but for those cars, I supplied Knoch AOK seats.

Thanks so much for the info on Al Knoch seats. I like the looks of those and actually spoke with him last spring at an NCRS event but at the time I was concerned about the rag top. This sounds like the direction that I will go.

I had the fortunate experience to ride in a car with the Al Knoch/ Wise Guy seats and the difference between them and stock is night and day. I will have a set in my car as the are just too comfortable and supportive for older bodies like mine. You don't slide around due to the bolster and contours of the seats.

I'm pretty sure I'll see the Wiseguys booth next week. So when you buy seats say from AK what are you doing for the remaining upholstery as far as matching colors and grains?

Default Rebuild the seats... Pictures

I Drooled over the AOK seats - but couldn’t justify the cost. Now when I price them, I’m sorry I didn’t jump in a few years ago.

But - looking at the pictures, I had a local Upolustry shop recover mine - after I borrowed some of the new material and had the vette
logo’s embroidered in. They came out really well, at a fraction of what the new ones would have been. The only bad thing is that
they don’t really hold you in place very well (like the newer corvettes.
