C8 Vert?
Sure that somebody here has already addressed this question somewhere before but anyway here goes, do you think Chevy has a plan to use the C8 platform to make a convertible? The vert model has been a significant part of the Corvette market for many years. How will Chevy address this market demand going forward? TIA.

rear of the ME 8 If it is going to look like a 911 vert with the top down, i'll pass.

The big question is how does Chevy address this particular market segment? Is the C8 platform capable of supporting a convertible? If not then does the C7 stick around indefinitely?

There will be a convertible at or near the beginning. That said, Corvette went more than 12 years without a convertible and did just fine.

The years that Chevy did not produce vert were a very different time in our economy. Don't think you can compare it with today's market. Tastes are changing and total Corvette sale numbers are down significantly compared with the 70s & 80s. Don't think it would be wise for Chevy to write off their vert market in today's climate.

Personally I want a convertible, and have been studying the mules since the beginning. It has been obvious that there are 2 roof styles, and 2 rear end styles. Convertible and coupe. I've been posting on this since May. Photo above is the best to date of the convertible.
The best example of similar styles is the Ferrari 458/488 which has both. Here is the Ferrari 458 hardtop roof, which I believe is similar to the C8.

I hope not, I love convertibles and that's what I would likely buy. A different time it was, but so is this and not necessarily in a good way. In Southern California, the land of sunshine, despite popular belief there are few convertibles, and what ones you do see rarely have the top down. 80 MPH in heavy traffic with tire noise, engine noise, honking, wind, etc. is no fun. And as the countryside becomes less and less it is possible that convertibles will fall out of favor again.

There will not be a traditional soft top convertible as we have had since 1976. Instead the ME will only offer a coupe and a HT convertible.

From what Ive read and seen it looks like it may be a folding hardtop like the 458/488. I haven't seen or read anything about a softtop. Hopefully we'll find out soon, I don't know if anyone feels the same but I'm growing a bit tired of this so called big mystery

I hope there is no soft top, it just does not look good on a Corvette. A Spyder is the way to go!

Just for history sake, convertible Corvettes went away because the government started making noise in the 1970's about outlawing them (all convertibles), not from lack of sales. As far as the convertible C8, the picture in this thread confirms (for me, at least) that there is a hard top convertible, along the lines of a Ferrari 458/488.
