leather shift boot for a c2
I remember a thread on using a c3 shifter boot on a c2 . I have searched for the thread but can't find it , does anyone remember what year boot was used in the c2. There appears to be 2 different boots and I don't want to buy the wrong one. Thanks in advance . Jeff

I used a C-4 boot. My Long shifter is a larger than stock and there's a little more room in it.

What has to be removed in order to get that accomplished? Thanks

Those purple ***** were my first attempt at plugging the access holes for the shifter mounting bolts. I have since replaced them with home made silicone grommets.

There is a thin strip of metal around the base of the boot, you just need to form it to the shape of the opening. Quite easy to do.

I have been using c3 boots for years you keep the original boot and remove the metal from the c3 boot and glue it to the underside of the original boot retainer punchholes for the retainer screws and reinstall retainer and console, it will never come loose. I use Corvette America 68-76 boots.

Op, you are probably thinking of my post last year. Search “Shifter Boot” and you will find it. I went up to Zip and they were nice enough to lay out several boots for me from different years. IMO, the 84-85 early boot was the best quality and fits well. See my post I mentioned. I also used a new C2 rubber boot to make sure the warm air stays out.

I did the leather shift boot mod last year after reading Mark’s post. I used the same ‘84-‘85E boot from ZIP (item # ST-371) for $50 that he used.
I replaced the rubber boot at the same time and just put the leather boot on top of it.
Remove the metal surround from the leather boot and trim the boot to fit.
The opening at at the top of the boot where the shifter comes through was kinda big so I gathered a little material at the seam and put a couple of stitches in from the back with a leather sewing kit.

C3 boot
Modified a C3 leather boot from Corvette Central. Retained the built in metal ring, just cut and reshaped to fit the C2
opening.
