Converting from C5 wheels to C6 wheels
O I hope someone can help. I have a set of C6 rims and I would like to put them on my 2000 C5 convertible. Based on my research I found that I will need to purchase wheel adapters for the rear wheels. Would anyone be able to recommend the exact size I need to do this correctly. I’ve seen comments stating 20 mm or 3/4” ; however I would like to be sure. Also, does a particular manufacturer provide a better/exact adapter that works best? Thank you in advance for your help.

My spacer is 1” but not sure of the brand. I have had them on for the last 5 years and have both C6 and C7’s wheels and they both require the spacer on the rears.

They are bolted to the factory lug bolts and provide the lugs that the wheels get bolted to. I would not use a spacer that isn’t a similar adapter. I also have 1.25” adapters on my Jeep Rubicon to move the wheel out. I don’t think they make spacers like this less than 1” thick.

Someone should make a sticky thread on this - a chart would be nice - "You want to put these wheels on a C5 - you need these tires and these spacers" - a nice addon would be - "And if you want to clear C6 Z06 brake calipers then you need this"....

After Market TPMS
I’ve ordered rear wheel adapters from Motorsport Technology and I’m awaiting delivery. Owner Lenny Stahl said he’s done hundreds of C5 to C6 wheel conversions and said that 7/8” thickness works best. As part of my original post regarding converting from my C5 wheels to C6 wheels I also want to purchase new TPMS for the conversion because I want to keep my original C5 wheels intact. Has anyone ever ordered after market TPMS from TPMS247.com? I’ve read positive and negative reviews about them and based on what I have found so far they have the best price for 4 chrome C5 TPMS; however a low price goes hand in hand with value. So before I purchase from them I thought that it would be valuable to ask you folks at the forum because I respect your opinion. Also, if anyone can recommend another provider it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Agree with 8VETTE7; you are much better off with the Schrader or ACDelco.
It appears from the website for TPMS247.com that they do carry Schrader.
Comparing the cost of Schrader to the less expensive one, you will pay about $20 more per TPMS, so, $80 extra. Since you should get 8-10 years (or even more) out of good TPMSs, it only cost you about $8-10 per year (or about 2-3 cents a day).
In case it has been a while since you bought replacement TPMS, please remember that there are two different "generations" of TPMS for C5s; one for 1997-2000 and the other for 2001 and later (by model year; not affected by year group of the wheel).

Update regarding C5 to C6 Wheels
I received the 7/8” thick wheel adapters from Motorsport Technology and they looked great. They were definitely a quality product. I brought them to my Vette mechanic to swap out the C5 wheels for the C6s. I also purchased Shraeder TPS. The C6 wheels fit perfectly without using the adapters. If they were installed, the wheels would have stuck out beyond the wheel wells and as a result would spray dirt onto the rear fenders. The Schrader TPS worked as expected without any programming problems. I’m writing this as a follow up and as an FYI for members that are planning to do a C5 to C6 wheel change. The mechanic told me that perhaps the adapters would’ve been needed if I swapped out to C6 Z06 wheels. I thank the members that provided me guidance for this project and I hope this helps others that are planning a C5 to C6 conversion.

Hubcentric 25mm rear spacer for c6 wheels on c5.
I have hub-centric 25mm spacers for c6 wheels on my 1998 targa. Sourced from Ebay seller. Existing studs need to be trimmed 1/4". Wheels/tires are flush with body.
Without the spacers, the tires rubbed on the inner fenders during spirited driving. Also, the rear tires were way too 'tucked' into the body.
OEM C6 base wheels powder coated gloss black, not repro's. Car is lowered on stock bolts.

I converted my TPMS and key fob to the 2001-2004 version. My 1998 had no fobs and non-working TPMS when I got it, so it was a no-brainer to switch to the newer system.
TPMS sensors have to be AC Delco or Schrader, the generic brands don't talk to the car at all.

The C6 wheels are factory stock chrome wheels that were given to me from a Vette club member off of his C6. They are not rubbing on the inside. My C5 is a 2000 convertible.

Are the C6 wheels that you obtained aftermarket "reproductions" or are they GM OEM C6 wheels????
If they are GM OEM wheels then the offset would be "wrong" for the c5. However there are numerous reproductions that are made in the "correct" offset for the C5. GM OEM C6 wheels would sit inside the rear fenders by about an inch hence the use of wheel adapters.
As far as GM OEM C6 Z06 wheels they stick out beyond the rear fenders when mounted on a C5. Adding an adapter would make them stick out even more on the rear of a C5.
