Cutting holes for 63/64 door rest, pic
Since the holes are on an angle, sometimes it's hit or miss where the holes should come thru the door panel vinyl. What I did was use two 1/4" thread rod 2" long and insert into the threaded holes as shown in photo 1. Install new door panel with the two top door panel screws to hold panel in correct position. Than, reach under panel and screw out threaded rods until they hit the door panel vinyl. Tap it with a hammer to mark location and cut 1/2" holes in vinyl. Nice snug fit as shown in picture 2. Also help to locate screws as they are put in.

Great tip - I almost blew the armrest install on my 63 -- the holes made in the vinyl are just barely covered by the armrest...

yep, I just did mine....bad news is I found out the passenger door had been replaced with I think a 63 door. The panel clips mounts were in different locations
